Welcome to my first hobby plog on EEFL, where I hope to post on any hobby progress once a day - all proper Warhammer Fantasy of course, edge bases all the way.
While there will not be pictures every day - or really most of time - I will try to keep up with WIPs as well as finished models, independent of army. Some terrain will definitely be in here as well. Once things have reached a critical mass I will start seperate army plogs as well, but this one will remain the "one thread to rule them all".
Well, now let us find out how long this can go...

Day 1
No painting today, as I was busy with lots of other things and quite exhausted in the evening. Some priming got done though, so on top of yesterdays 5 Black Orcs (silver) I now have one Ogre Tyrant and 10 Direwolves primed brown.
The Tyrant is the new plastic model, which surprisingly enough fits well on a 40mm square base - with less overhang than the older metal model actually! Yeah, I'm aware of that one Stormcast facemask on his trophy rack, but we can all just pretend it is a fancy knights mask, right?

Cool. Bring it on! 'Daily' is a tall order. You've raised your own bar pretty high right off the bat.

Day 2
The day was more stressful than anticipated, but I still managed to get todays goal done. Which was... *drumroll* ... basecoat the skin of 5 Black Orcs and give them all a complete black wash later on. Nothing spectacular, but to be brutally honest: with some brown on the base and maybe some grass added, these would look perfectly "battle ready". Yet they still lack all other details (leather belts, trousers, horns, teeth, unit markings and/or blood etc.)!
My biggest psychological hurdle, which I will most likely never jump over, is this: a whole block of Black Orcs on this level would look okay-ish on the table, and yet I can not get myself to stop here in favour of "getting some units done to this level and play games". My stuff needs to look "good" before I let it near other people. With a couple of units of the standard described - i.e. some basic colours, a shading and some basic basing - my stuff would look totally acceptable on the table, definitely much better than grey plastic! I just can't do it that way, and sit on piles and piles of grey plastic instead.
Cool. Bring it on! 'Daily' is a tall order. You've raised your own bar pretty high right off the bat. Well, we'll see how it goes. You can bet good money on some posts going like "Day X to X+something" sooner or later. I just want to try out this "baby steps still keep you moving forward" thing once again. Failed every time so far - why not another round? I LOVE it. Looking forward to all of it! No praise in advance please.

Day 3Sunday, and being out a good part of the day, I have set a small goal - which as achieved! 5 GW Skeleton Warriors were finished building (the still current VC ones). Sword'n'board, as needed for the first scenario of "Sigmar's Blood". I have a painted 25 "man" unit of skeletons already, but they have mixed weapons, and I want to follow the scenario as closely as possible.
Having said that: I really need to find some pictures of my painted Undead. I know they are somewhere, but couldn't find them yet.

Haha excellent stuff! If I posted every day people would see how shamefully slow I am at everything. I do follow your sentiments about making things look good though (or as good as I can manage). I've been trying to make myself paint some stuff a little faster

Day 4
Todays goals were not met, because... reasons. I got sand on and magnets under the bases of yesterdays skeletons, but the painting I wanted to get done just fell by the wayside.
However, I got some more converting of the Corpse Cart done. In "Sigmar's Blood", any character and every unit has some backstory, and at least for the characters I want to have some converted versions of their basic models. It's totally not necessary - hell, you can play the whole campaign with different units or even armies* - I like converting things though, and it makes the whole thing more "my dudes". The necromancer gets some pieces of the plastic foot version (which I have painted, see below), so I will end up with a mounted and unmounted version lloking like they are actually the same guy.
Also: found some shoddy pics of my painted Undead. Behold... my stuff:
The skeletons are a mix of different GW generations, including Cursed Company, with some Mantic models too. For ghouls I found the Hobbit Goblins pretty perfect - getting about 40 or 50 for a great price helped. The rest is what it says on the lid. The Ogre is meant to be a Butcher (i.e. a wizard), not something undead.
The skeletons need grass added to their bases, and all models need to be dusted off. They are at a friends place - where we usually play - but due to Corona are out of my reach for the time being.
* While I was not around when they came out, the 5th edition campaign sets were just awesome. In regards to the topic here: not only gave they detailed background for the forces and scenarios, they also gave suggestions for alternative armies (including background and lists). No idea why GW gave up on that, I always found these sooo tempting for army building.

Day 5
No progress was made on anything related to the hobby today. Happens a lot, no need to cry. I hope to report something else tomorrow though!

Love those skeleton and ghoul regiments. The former manages to capture the ecclecticsm of someone raising all the local corpses without a care as regards species or era while simultaneously looking like a uniform regiment. The latter are simply an excellent choice for a bunch of degenerate cannibals.

Day 6No painting today either, 5 Chaos Warriors got built though. Not a good day today. What are the ethereal bret peasants going to be played as? The intention was to run them as Spirit Hosts, but I found something even better by now.
