Nice introduction into your Undead, I will follow this project with great interest! I share some of your sentiments about the Undead range and its split (not about Nagash though ).
One of my current goals is to get the models needed for the "Sigmar's Blood" campaign done. Basically painting up a larger army for VC split over four scenarios. I am right at the beginning, so I hope your Plog gives me some "tandem motivation"!
Some really nice paintjobs on those models shown so far. Are you going to just finish them where necessary, or strip them and start from scratch?

the original Gary Morley Nagash (which is a model I love and no one will convince me otherwise!) you do you! Great stuff. Really like the spirit hosts, good models and nice, straightforward paint job. I am working on a corps cart myself and your pictures convinced me that it is worth picking out all the details in that pile of dead. Although, after scrolling through the pictures, I do feel let down because I was expecting to see young knoffles' red-eyed skeleton horde!

I’ll look forward to seeing your figures and definitely finding out how you fair with the campaign! You will soon find out that I’m very much a tabletop standard painter. As such it is highly unlikely I’ll revisit any of the above models (not least as they are as good or better than I’d normally paint). The exception will be the black coach, as the steeds definitely need work and that and a few others need a bit of repair work. I also have such a metric ton of unpainted (and unbuilt!) models that need love so ever forward 😁. It was always the Von carsteins that inspired me. I love the idea of one powerful vampire raising legions to do his work and everything falling apart if they died! Naitsabes, I’ll dig them out just for you. 😉

Very nice and I am also looking forward to your Nagash. I like it, although I've never actually played a game with my own model!

I completely missed Mr Batshit crazy, Konrad Von Carstein, from the initial posts. Again not painted by me but love this model.

Naitsabes this is the skellie horde (and skellie archers). Mainly from 2 boxes of the 3rd ed skeleton horde, possibly GWs best ever value box. Along the way I also picked up a command blister and also some addons to convert the skeletons into command models. No idea where they came from.

And this is the mounted element from the same box and also completely unpainted bar keeping the theme of gold armour and purple. I have now picked up the skeleton horde contrast to actually paint the buggers! (And repair a good few of them too)

good stuff. I think you could make short work of them with a white rattle can followed by contrast paint.
the sculpts held up really well. so much better than what followed in the form of giant heads/hands/weapons (I do spot a few of those bad bits in your horde but, you are excused).

Oooh, I'm excited to watch you progress on this army, Knoffles! That skeleton horde and mounted units look so ripe!

Yep there are 10 or so of the giant head/hand models. The only good thing about them is they had some alternative heads, so there are a couple of beastmen in there. Not quite as good as the regiment of renown kit with undead orcs etc.

Love those skellies, also the Talisman wizard (right?) is a great model! I need to somehow recover it from my daughter's miniature box... I remember buying a skeleton horde box and building it with my father and brother in the very early 90s... We were hopeless, got glue all over the place, but then when painted the glue looked a bit like dangling flesh!

It came free in one of the white dwarf magazines during 4/5th edition (I think there were a number of different wizards you could have received). Love the dangling flesh, suitably gruesome!

As an army I still favour masses of skeletons, as core, with elite vampiric units to back them up (which is why I can say I currently own 0 zombies and a total of three 4th ed metal ghouls!). Late to commenting here, but I love that there's another Undead army going - especially as I agree that Skeletons + Vampires is the best way to go for VC (in terms of looks/theme). the original Gary Morley Nagash (which is a model I love and no one will convince me otherwise!) Even Gary Morley acknowledges the model is crap, which is why he sculpted a replacement for Avatars of War by way of apology for inflicting that piece of junk on us: avatars-of-war.com/sh/en/undead/95-necromancer-lord.html
