Ok my choices
$2 Louen, i get a grail knight with a hippogryph as my second in command for 2 dollars?!?! This is a steal, plus maybe he can get me in good with Bretonnia seeing how hes a grail knight
$6 Teclis. My wizard is teclis, one thing 8th has taught me, thr magic phase is important and this guy can help. Plus hes my in to Ulthuan if i want to go there as hes a high elf. Also, the conversation would probably be much better with him than a Slaan.
$1 Gtilla. Im sure he will be good for laughs and maybe he can teach me how to shoot a bow and arrow. Plus hes allegedly very good at scouting so that would come in handy
$3 Gor-rok. No convo necessary, i point and he takes care of business
$2 Bragg the Gutsman. A bad ass Ogre as my bodyguard, its what they are best at (besides eating, but i have gtilla to go hunt some food for Bragg)
$7 Star Dragon. Well, this is my big purchase. In case everything goes wrong and im out of options, ive gotta star dragon on my side to level any enemies i may have and/or fly me to another continent
$4 empire/bret armour. Not the best, not the worst, but ill be having Teclis buff me out with augment spells so it shouldnt matter much.
Id basically make a beeline to altdorf, Ulthuan, or Bretonnia (if i could convince Louen to talk to whoever is the king at this point and have me knighted). My goal would be to survive long enough to make it to civilization

Here are my choices relayed from my answer on Lustria Online:
My aim would be to head up to Dwarf country in the World's Edge Mountains clad in Dwarf armour and riding a Mournfang, with Thorgrim and Ungrim keeping me under their protection, their Dwarf attendants repairing Boneripper with fantastic-quality Dwarf craftsmanship, Kemmler sending skeletal armies to clear the way and Apophas bumping off any beacon of resistance.

Okay, I think my list will be:
Malekith - $6 - Okay, undeniably, this guy is a brute unto himself, but add in the fact that he's also a Lv4 wizard, you're getting two categories filled in one purchase. Plus, with his other equipment, he can degrade opponents and boost his own effectiveness all the while being nearly impossible to kill. Oh, yeah...he's riding a dragon.
Heinrick Kemmler - $3 - He's merely a backup wizard, but a dang good one. He can keep my army buffed with numbers in an overwhelming tide of bodies.
Queek Headtaker - $2 - This guy can dish out a high volume of attacks that are hard to stop. This is a steal.
Throgg - $3 - Another great deal on dealing out damage. Plus, he can heal himself. Not bad.
Prince Apophas - $2 - This assassin can be anywhere I need him to be. Not to mention that he's quite effective.
Khemrian Warsphinx - $4 - 8 wounds man. This thing would keep me in the fight for a long time. Besides, the sheer volume of attacks is impressive.
Man - $4 - Okay, this would be a second option to Dwarf crafting, but still pretty good! And the artillery is right up there too!
All that and I even saved a dollar.

King Louen - A Grail Knight on Hypogriff, what’s not to like! It’s not quite a Griffin but close enough. $2
Kemmler - a batshit loon who’s grasp over his own mind may be somewhat suspect but who’s necromantic skills are second to only Nagash and perhaps Manfred. $3 (Running total 5)
Ungrim - a slayer who is also armoured and loaded with magic items. Possibly the most badass dwarf currently alive. $5 (Running total 10).
Taurox the Brass Bull - a Doombull with metal skin, a serious attitude and a penchant for blood. Yes please. $4 (Running total 14).
Oxytl - a chameleon that is never seen and was able to survive in the realm of chaos undetected while killing off greater deamons. Cheap to boot. $3 (Running total 17).
Royal Peg - sure I could have afforded a warspinx but it’s a bit to poncy. It just screams that you’re trying to make up for short comings in other areas. The Ferrari of the old world (😉). I like the loyal steed, intelligent and loyal. $3 (Running total 20).
High Elf - Ideally it would have been Dwarven but elven probably suits me better as I’m built more like an elf so the lightness and durability of it due to magical enhancements probably suits me better. $5 (Running total 25)

It's about time that I throw my squad into the mix. Here is my list, as originally posted over at the Lustria Online forum: Okay, after much deliberation, I think I finally have my ultimate squad (I made this quite hard on myself, as I was always just a few points shy of getting the squad I wanted). Since posting this thread, I have been concurrently working on three separate lists and repeatedly tweaking and comparing them in an Excel spread sheet. One list even featured both Archaon and Mazdamundi (but obviously not much else ). Truth be told, I really wanted to include Mazdamundi in my squad, but in the end I went in an entirely different direction. Something @killer Angel mentioned, really got me thinking, and greatly influenced my list: "Man equipment. Not that great, but i'm with Karkl Franz… that equipment will be the best humans can manufacture, and at least Teclis can give me some buff. " This became the impetus that got me thinking about possible secondary and tertiary roles that characters could preform beyond the primary role of their category designation. This influenced several of my choices in the list, but most especially my wizard choice. My list is based on speed, magic, versatility and big monsters. So here we go: Second in Command: Malekith ($6) ➨ Malekith is the perfect combination of all four elements that my squad is built on (speed, magic, versatility, big monsters). Not only is he a fantastic fighter and experienced leader, but he is also an accomplished lord level wizard. That's already a nice two-for-one bonus, but then there is the fact that he comes with his mount Seraphon, the dragon. This really gives him some significant additional offensive punch and gives him the ability of flight (a major theme of my list). Wizard: Drazhoath the Ashen ($4) ➨ Drazhoath is the ultimate jack of all trades. While in terms of magical ability he clearly isn't anywhere as powerful as Kairos, Teclis or Mazdamundi; in its place he offers a lot a whole lot of versatility. Firstly, in terms of magic he is still a lord level caster and quite potent. Plus, he doesn't have to necessarily out-magic some of the bigger boys on the list, because he is backed up by my second lord level caster in Malekith. Together, they provide an ample amount of magical dominance. Secondly, Drazoath is not a squishy wizard; he is well armoured and can put up a decent fight on his own. Of course he is not on his own, he also has his mount Cinderbreath, a mighty Bale Taurus. So, just like with Malekith, I now have a second powerful flying monster in my squad. It is at this point where @killer Angel 's comment really got me thinking... Drazhoath offers me so much more. As an elite level Sorcerer-Prophet, Drazhoath is also a master in the creation of war machines and daemon-binding (think magic weapons, armour and K'daai). Admittedly, some of this is aimed at the long game (one of my key objectives would be to establish a fortress/castle safe-haven), but the creation of some magic weapons/armour for my own personal use would be the first task I would set him upon once we have the facility to do so. So the trick is surviving until that point. Duelist/Fighter: Konrad Von Carstein ($1) ➨ On the surface level, Konrad is a bit of a liability. He is a wee bit crazy and impulsive, and would pose a risk to any allies or troops I might acquire in time. I was really aiming to try to fit the strong and dependable Gor-Rok into this slot, but I only had a single extra dollar remaining so it was either upgrade to Queek Headtaker or put the money towards upgrading my rogue/assassin choice, I decided on the later. And then as per @killer Angel 's comment, I had a true eureka moment! Konrad you see, offers one key function that none of the choices across any of the categories can provide. In every one of our lists, what is the weakest link?... We are. We're just plain humans and what's worse, we are coming from an overly comfortable technological age that makes us pretty ill-suited to the harsh realities of the medieval age (let alone the fantastical and significantly more dangerous version of it that is the Warhammer world). We have categories to give us powerful mounts and magical weapons/armour, but the fact still remains that we're still just plain humans. And this is where Konrad offers a unique solution to the problem... vampirism! So say goodbye to human NIGHTBRINGER say hello to Vampire NIGHTBRINGER!!! Of course this course of action has its downsides, but for survival, the upsides are immense. Also, I wouldn't have to commit to this right away (or at all... but I probably would), but the option is nice to have. Muscle: Throgg ($3) ➨ Throgg is a good bargain for his price. He is an extremely powerful troll, but more importantly his intelligence is truly unique among his kind. Also, his ability to to regenerate from wounds incurred is immensely useful. Sure, I'd rather have Kholek, but I believe that those funds are better spent elsewhere. Rogue/Assassin: Prince Apophas ($2) ➨ This is a cost saving measure. Originally I had Gitilla, but with the extra dollar I had left over, I decided to take Apophas instead. @lord Agragax of Lunaxoatl raises some good points in regards to Apophas. He is a supernatural entity that is very difficult to kill conventionally and is equally difficult to defend against. He is a unique tool for the squad which provides me unique options. Also... he flies. For those that have been reading along, that is now the third flying element I have in my squad. Mount: Star Dragon ($7) ➨ Another flying beastie!! Of all the mounts, I knew I wanted one that flies. That left me with the Star Dragon, Imperial Griffon or the Royal Pegasus. In my other two lists I had created, I settled on the Royal Pegasus to save points. @lord Agragax of Lunaxoatl had previously stated that the Mournfang was superior to the Royal Pegasus, I could not disagree more. The Mournfang is indeed more powerful, but flight is worth so much more. Flight allows you to survey the land, to stay out of the thickest of dangers and get out of any bad situation you might find yourself in. It also allows you to get to areas of advantage quickly and relatively unimpeded. You can also access areas that might otherwise be inaccessible. Of course, since I was able to scrap up the points, I can have flight AND significantly greater offensive potential in the form of a Star Dragon. With the Star Dragon I now have 3 powerful flying monsters in my list and the flying Apophas. That is some air force! With that might, my squad would be unmatched in the skies and could very quickly put a lot of pressure on any singular weak point in the enemy lines/formation, before flying off to decimate another target. You know that if your boy NIGHTBRINGER is going to have a mount, it's going to be a mount with style ! Weapon/Armoursmith: Skink ($2) ➨ Why Skink armour?... cost saving (and I don't trust goblin workmanship, even for the short term). I needed the points elsewhere, and my squad gives me alternate ways to protect myself. First, I have flight via my dragon. Second, a star dragon is extremely formidable and will lay waste to most threats. Third, I have Drazhoath who can make magic items, so if I can survive, I will have access to top tier equipment in the long run. Lastly, the Vampirism option provided by Konrad (increased abilities, strength, reflexes). All in all, I fancy my chances of surviving until Drazhoath can do his thing. And there we have it. My list based on speed, monsters, versatility and magic. I have two lord level casters. I have 4 flying elements in my squad... 3 of which are extremely potent monsters. The slowest thing in my squad is a troll and a vampire, each of which is much faster than an ordinary unmounted human. I have Drazhoath to forge me magic weapons, armour, war machines and K'daai. I have a muscle bound smart troll and a vampire to upgrade my limited human form. That is my ultimate WARHAMMER squad.

Okay.
First off, my list is not a "power gamer" list. I did not, in isolation, view just how powerful people were and how combinations of them would be more powerful than others. I took a serious look at each of the characters as, while they would be totally loyal to me and would not work to undermine each other, they would retain their basic personality.
As part of this, I viewed each from the standpoint of what I would be trying to achieve in entering the Warhammer universe. Aside from the fact that (as previously and hilariously covered in a meme) NO-ONE would want to go to the Warhammer universe, grim-dark as it is, I looked over the list from what I thought would be the best course of action to actually effect a change and overall victory for those not desiring to destroy/enslave/subjugate/etc. the entire world to their will.
I decided that I would want to put together a team that would be able to unite the forces of Order in a unified front to be able to at least create a environment that wasn't as grim-dark and at best to push back all forces of Destruction and actually have a sane civilization.
Whether I achieved this or not is a different question and I feel would only really be answered based on the steps that I took to achieve it.
Secondly, I viewed myself entering this universe when considering a mount and weapons. I have no training in battle, no experience in tactics (really) and would be (at least initially) a very poor fighter. Possibly my only strength would be in statesmanship and forging alliances as I do consider myself level headed and able to talk to anyone about anything.
So, the armour/weapons point became almost moot and I went with Goblin to save money. To be fair, there are several Goblin magic items in the O&G ARB which are pretty cool and I would have had to spend something on magical items. This freed up my cash for other purchased. $1 spent. (I will also say for the record, that I was thinking that with an adequate team, I would rapidly be able to acquire magic weapons, armour and items that would bolster my meager fighting abilities to something half decent and would then have to train)
So, for the rest.
I then looked over the list for who had the characteristic(s) that I felt would be of most use considering my goal above. I then planned to orient the remainder of my choices around this. The fact of using lore strength instead of rules strength made this very interesting, as many of the characters that I was familiar with I had to re-look at in this light as to what their strengths were. Funnily enough, this brought me Kairos Fateweaver.
Why?
In reading the lore of all of the characters, it struck me that he had two almost invaluable skills: the first was knowing EVERY spell in existence (which in addition to being a Lord of Change is a pretty OP characteristic) and the second and most important was being able to see all the future and all the past. This characteristic I deemed higher than any other. How could I possibly be beaten if I could foretell exactly what was going to happen in every meeting, skirmish, battle, potential decision.
So he became my starting point. $5 spent, $6 spent total.
For my second in command, I immediately dismissed Arcahon and Malekith. They are both very powerful figures and, as Nightbringer points out, Malekith comes with a dragon. I couldn't do it though. They are both homicidal/genocidal maniacs. Even if loyal to me, their personality being the same would mean my rule would be sullied by acts of wanton violence and torture inevitably. I originally went with Thorgrim Grudgebearer to have a Dwarf, but decided in the end for Karl Franz. His lore cites him as an expert tactician and statesman. This fit nicely with my ethos for the group and brought me a pretty decent imperial Griffon to boot. $4 spent, $10 spent total.
For my Duelist/Fighter, I kind of felt compelled to take Gor-Rok. Not only would he be key to allying the Lizardmen (since any other race has diplomatic lines open to the rest of the forces of Order), I love his fluff and he's a total bad-ass per this. So a good fighter to have by my side. $3 spent, $13 spent total.
For muscle, I was a little torn. Every character on this list is a "bad guy" bar (arguably) Bragg the Gutsman who isn't exactly a mahrlecting Care Bear... In the end, I went with Throgg. Per his fluff, he is a fearsome fighter in his own right, but also brings to the table the ability to command a legion of beast. So, on top of making my armies through statesmanship, I could also be raising a horde of monsters to my cause (and denying them to the forces of Chaos, double-whammy). $3 spent, $16 spent total.
For my Assassin, I went with Prince Apophas. I would not take the psychopaths that are Snikch or Shadowblade. Araloth doesn't seem worth his price tag when you actually read his lore, Markus and Oxyotl are great, but I was running low on money... so I took Prince Apophas. Having an immortal assassin who can pop up pretty much anywhere is pretty handy. Not only that, but he can only be dispersed not killed. I could literally set him a list of people to at least attempt to assassinate from the forces of Destruction and if he succeeded then I had a result. If not, I could literally have him keep trying. Great asset. $2 spent, $18 spent total.
For my mount, I'm with Nightbringer. I took the Star Dragon. In terms of fluff, it is far beyond any of the other mounts and having a super-powered dragon does make a difference. With my Imperial Griffon, I had a pretty mean starting point. I could even give my mount to another to ride, making it even more dangerous. Solid choice in my opinion and was one of the ones I knew I'd be taking from the start. $7 spent, $25 total.
-
This I feel would enable me to pursue the goal that I had set for my Warhammer quest (pardon the pun).
