So, a little challenge for you guys - and to help me visualise the make up of an army...
The Brief - dark elves at 2000pts using only female models - witch elves (of both kinds), sorceresses, hags, helebron, medusa, both kinds of wagons (mirror and Cauldron), harpies and the monsters(karibdyss and hydra). Possibly assassins if this particularly adds to a list.
So, how would it look, and how competitive is it? Best entry gets Internet cookies

Do you want variety (i.e. as many of those models as possible) or effectiveness? Because for the strongest list it would be mainly the Witch Elves, backed up by a monster or two, plus some Harpies as chaff. Sorceresses/Death Hags as characters, and a Cauldron. You wouldn't include Sisters of Slaughter, the Medusa or Bloodwrack Shrines in a strong list, but they're amazing models. Also, is Morathi female enough for you? I'd definitely include her in the list. I think Hellebron is great too (albeit a glass cannon -- though the whole army would be) but a Death Hag BSB would be a better pick on the inevitable Cauldron.

I'd like to include a medusa or two, if only because they fit the theme I have in mind but otherwise not fussed on variety. I'd forgotten about morathi too, do yes, she would be fine. I'd definitely want a Cauldron as I have a good idea for it, otherwise not stuck on anything particular

Possible list: - Morathi (general) - 375
- Death Hag, BSB, Rune of Khaine, Ogre Blade, Cauldron - 380
- 40 Witch Elves, full command, Razor Standard - 515
- 5 Harpies - 75
- War Hydra, Fiery Breath - 180
- Bloodwrack Medusa - 90
- Bloodwrack Shrine - 175
- 12 Sisters of Slaughter, full command - 210
Total 2,000 points.
Morathi is surprisingly good in combat, so kind of fills the role of a Pegasus Master, while also being the best Dark Elf caster. If you can get Soul Stealer off to increase her Wounds, she's extremely hard to take down. There's no backup Sorceress (scroll caddy); your Cauldron can cast its bound spell though, if you have spare dice.
A Cauldron character is an obvious pick given your Core has to be Witch Elves. Hellebron is great, but I think a level 4 sorceress serves you better. So that means a Death Hag, who can double up as your BSB. I'd leave Witch Brew - this unit is the bulk of your army, and you don't want it taking Frenzy tests at -3 Leadership; plus you should have dice to cast the Cauldron's +1 Attack spell. The Ogre Blade gives you some anti-armour attacks, and the Rune of Khaine ensures you get lots of attacks with that.
The Witch Elf unit only needs 35 models to get 5 ranks of 10 with the Cauldron in; the other 5 Witch Elves are to make up your Core points. The Razor Standard gives you some ability to get through armour saves.
The Harpies are your only real chaff. Ideally there'd be two units but there weren't the points for it.
The War Hydra is an obvious choice, and the Fiery Breath gives you your only Flaming Attacks.
The Medusa is there because you wanted it. Use it as chaff on a flank.
The Bloodwrack Shrine goes with the Sisters. A more "optimal" list might remove these for another Witch Elf unit / Sorceress scroll caddy / Kharibdyss*, but it felt more appropriate for your theme to have the Shrine/Sisters. It's a decent unit with 5 ranks of 5 models (plus 2 spare), but very vulnerable to shooting... much like the rest of your army.
You've got three "frontline" combat units - Witch Elves, Sisters/Shrine, Hydra. Harpies and Medusa as chaff, and Morathi to roam around blasting stuff. It's a fun looking list, but I dislike having so much tied up in one big Witch Elf unit.
*I took a quick look at a v2 of the list that dropped the Sisters/Shrine, and took the main Witch Elf unit down to 35. You could fit in a second Witch Elf unit of 21 models, full command, plus a Kharibdyss, and have 19 points spare for something.

Great thanks. Would I get a little more mileage out of another 5 harpies rather than the medusa?

Yes - if you're comfortable with just having the one Medusa (on the shrine) then a second unit of Harpies would be more useful.

The Cauldron (and mirror) mounted on Stegadon. Remove all the spikes from the witches, white cloth, brass weapons and blonde hair.
