The healing potion wording (and other potions are similar) says: 'One Use Only. The healing potion can be drunk at the start of the controlling players turn. The imbiber immediately recovers D6 wounds lost in the battle.
I'm not trying to be a gamey bastard but it doesn't say the imbiber has to be the character that has the potion. Is this one of those rules where the permissive rule set comes into play? For instance Bugman's rules specifically says his tankard can heal other characters (it was his ruleset that made me think if the question)? I think Allarielle has a special rule that also specifically allows her to heal others.
Cheers

Contrary to what one may think, a permissive rule set in gaming terms means that you are only allowed to do what the rules expressis verbis allow you to do. If there is no rule specifically stating that you can do something, you cannot. Hence, if a character is in possession of a magic item, the benefits it provides only affect the carrier, unless specifically stated otherwise. The rules for Alariels' Star of Avalorn and Bugman's Tankard specifically state otherwise - the generic magic potions do not. So, do not read too much into the term "the imbiber": the carrier can choose when to use this item, at which point (but only then) he becomes "the imbiber."
