So my mate will try and have a go at playing Ogres. It is my unholy duty to show him the error of his ways and bring down some warpstoned mayhem. What about this:
Lords
Grey Seer (ToP,Ironcurse icon, Skalm)
Warlord (Fellblade) --> clanrat unit?
Heroes
Assassin (weeping blades, potion of strength) --> not sure where to put him
Warlock Engineer (LVL2) --> Get him Cracks call and skitterleap his furry behind
Warlock Engineer (Brass orb) --> skitterleap him too
Warlock Engineer (Shadow magnet) --> joins slave block of 49, hilarious!
Chieftain (BSB, Armour of Destiny, Halberd)
Core
20 Clanrats ( Mus, Warpfire Thrower)
20 Clanrats ( Mus, Warpfire Thrower)
49 Skaven slaves
49 Skaven slaves
20 Skaven slaves
20 Skaven slaves
2 rat darts
Special
7 Gutter Runners (Slings, Poison)
6 Plague Censor Bearers
6 Plague Censor Bearers
Rare
2 DOOMWHEEL
2 Warp Lightning Cannons

Theme wise i dont like the censor bearers as you have a skyre/warlord theme and no plague monks. Imo these points would be better spent buffing up the clanrat numbers as 20 will die real quick.
With the assassin, you could put him with the gutter runners as a delivery system but imo with the Warlord (to try assassinate threats before they eliminate fellblade) is the best place.
Any skaven list with then fellblade gets a thumb up from me!
Interesting list. In some ways lacks hitting power but double doomwheel/double warp cannon should be fearsome and of course the fellblade could be huge!

I've never used the fellblade before since it's quite a risk to its bearer. Against Ogres it should shine. The plague censor bearers don't fit the theme but I had some points left. Clanrats could use a boost...perhaps some extra night runners...rat ogres?

I agree with the bumping up of the numbers, even if you have to reduce the number of units in the army.

I tried using Rat Ogres but in the end I went for core. 50 Stormvermin should be imposing enough. Need to get my Skaven book to see which banner would be best for them.
Lords
Grey Seer (ToP, Skalm) --> Clanrats
Warlord (Fellblade) --> Stormvermin
Heroes
Assassin (weeping blades, potion of strength) --> Stormvermin
Warlock Engineer (LVL2, brass orb) --> Get him Cracks call and skitterleap his furry behind
Warlock Engineer (Shadow magnet) --> --> Stormvermin
Chieftain (BSB, Armour of Destiny, Halberd) --> Clanrats
Core
22 Clanrats (Warpfire Thrower)
50 Skaven slaves (Mus,Champion)
21 Skaven slaves (Mus)
50 Stormvermin (Mus,Champion, SB, Banner, Warpfire Thrower)
2 Rat darts
Special
7 Gutter Runners (Slings, Poison)
Rare
2 DOOMWHEEL
2 Warp Lightning Cannons

That did not go as expected... we stopped after 4 turns and I lost, not a heavy loss but I thought this list would wipe him out. Was fun :-)
My Brass Orb scattered too far Cracks Skull never landed (where's that double six when you want it?) My Seer had two miscasts (oh there it is) His ironblaster was dancing around and picked his targets (DOOMWHEEL gone, WLC gone,...) My skaveslaves ran like the *BEEP* they are
Strangely enough, after he destroyed 2/3 of my army I started to come back. His mournfangs ran away after a warpfire hit My Fellblade warlord killed his Slaughtermaster and Bruiser. And then the Fellblade killed the Warlord (ah Skaven) His sabretusks got zapped by the DOOMWHEEL My gutter runners finally arrived and almost thrashed the ironblaster
All in all a fun game, glad I was able to come back a little. On to fight the Ogres with Empire!

Sounds like a good game with the skaven in terms of story line. Some of your creations inflict great damage to your opponent and some inflict great damage to yourself!

Sounds like a good game. One aspect of WFB 8th edition that is superior to other games is that you are almost never defeated until turn 6 is over. Meaning, even if you are losing badly, the losing player really has a opportunity to make a significant comeback and win!
In your own game here, it seems you almost did just that. You had many things go badly early in the game. Then however, you forced one of his elite shock units to flee (Mournfangs), you killled two important characters, you killed the annoying sabretusks, and "almost" took down the Ironblaster. I don't know what you had left but it seems your mistake was surrounding in Turn 4. With two turns left, you might have been able to actually win.
In any game, I find it to be extremely important that a player does not lose confidence after a particular event goes wrong (i.e. your general dies, a major combat is lost and your side flees, etc.), persevering and continuing to play your best makes a big difference. Many players allow themselves to become self-defeated as they lose all impetus in continuing to play because of one or more tactical mistakes, bad luck, or whatever. Granted this is all much easier said than done, it can be extremely demoralizing for a player when several things or one major thing goes wrong. My advise is to shrug and press on...

Oh, I have no problem with losing. I think I have a 50% win-lose ratio, which is fine. You may have a point that I gave up too fast but the last game went on and on while I'd already won (8 rounds?). Perhaps it is best to go for 6 rounds all the time, then again, we play for fun and drinks so no harm done :-)

In general, I think most players can sometimes concede too quickly if they feel they are getting crushed (myself included). I'm just saying it's important to be recognize when you feel this way and try and shrug off the effects of despair.

"This is nuts." "Dwarves are insane!"
