The men at arms done, I have been able to get back on with the masked skaven engine guard. Progress will be slow because I now have the next play-by-email battle to sort for my campaign, and will spend today doing pictures for the prequel story! I have several more masked heads sorted, and have managed to get the number of completed models up to 7 ... Seems to be working ... But I am not convinced on the tank and tube design, so I have come up with the mark 2 version ... ... I will post more when I make more progress, but in the meantime I could put up some more of my regiments (etc), if there is interest. I am thinking of starting another modelling and painting thread, maybe greenskins or Tilean or Ogres, undead or other!

The Skaven conversions are top notch. Clever how you turned the head into the masks, I will have to try at some point, been moulding the gas mask head but this is nice way to break up using the same head.

@ Mallo: I did an internet search for skaven gas mask heads 3D printed up and posted before Brexit and thought them too expensive when I could have a go at it myself (for the engine's actual crew/attendants). Then I searched the same post Brexit as I wanted 24 for a regiment and the price, due to the new taxes, had gone even crazier. Ah well, it is fun making my own!

Elite Warlord's Guard Regiment, so brave they wear yellow - which makes them more noticeable to the foe. It's the colour of bravery to skaven! In battle ... Up and at 'em!

Progress on the engine guard! I have been working on these as a break from working on the photos, stories, reports. A hobby break from hobby breaks!!!! Here are the two varieties of air tanks - original and the 'improved' version. Here are the four mask types. 1. Original (with the lovely thread I ran out of for the feeder tube). 2. Pointy version (as I ran out of original shapes, taken from ogre sprues!) 3. Globe-ended, using the musician's beater end! 4. Mark 4. These actually have real screws inside to counter with the non-stick plastic band. The whole regiment, ready for priming, from front and rear. Ranking them up is hell!

Sweet! Love your designs and producing so many requires quite the dedication.

Thanks Tubis. Here are my engine guard almost fully completed. Just a few bits need the anti-shine varnish, and I will put some flock on the bases. They were truly nightmarish to rank up. I double based 16 of them (so, 8 pairs). Then I had to cut individuals off the bases to angle them very carefully behind a figure that they could just fit behind! Here are a couple of the air tanks … You can see the eye lenses here … Here is the command (musician x2 – I think I got muddled up) and a standard. The standard bearer does not have a very long arm. That’s an ornamental brass had on the top! They are Clan Skryre so I researched to correct rune! Two close up … These last few show how well the dip worked. Well, I think so. This is a major departure from my normal black lining technique, but I love the way it has come out …

Tried acrylics and a 'wash' (aka dip) on this old model too. I still think it works fairly well on skaven. Might still use my black-line cartoon style on other models.

Just realised, there's some more stuff I kitbashed and scratched up that I had forgotten about. Here's a warpfire thrower team ... And here's my homemade take on a ratling gun ...
