(LEGAL DISCLAIMER - THIS THREAD CONTAINS IMAGES THAT SOME MAY FIND DISTURBING... YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED ) Okay, so after a long time I'm going to be restarting some painting. I tried when I was young and had a really large loss on it, but I feel like now is a good time to start afresh. I've been watching some Duncan Rhodes videos and I've started doing some work. So here goes!

Nice models! For reference, what did your models from 25 years ago look like?! What sort of sized army are you planning on painting up? Painting has come on a bit since the 90s (my painting was diabolical and have only recently just started properly again last August and am really enjoying it as a hobby away from a screen.) with lots of youtube content to help, and lots of very helpful paints. I look forward to seeing your paintings and progress.

I look forward to seeing your paintings and progress. Thanks mate! My models looked like blobby blobs. This was pre-internet, pre-YouTube and with no instructions aside from really bad pamphlets. I was 14 and (for some unknown reason) just assumed that if I blobbed paint on it would look great. This time round is great. I watched Duncan videos and videos from Guy from Midwinter Minis. Both really helpful and explained a LOT about why my earlier efforts were so horrible. I bought myself my armies off Ebay over the past I don't know how many years as I didn't want to start painting. Now for some reason just painting for the fun of it appeals. I'll probably make a 6 or 9 strong Beasts of Nurgle unit for my Daemons of Chaos army. From there, who knows!

So forgot to put the in between photos, but I’m done with the models, just waiting for a 40mm by 40mm base to arrive to switch them over so they can be proper proxy Beasts of Nurgle. Quite happy with how they turned out for a first foray back into painting!

Looking great man... Definitely support the move to 40mm squares though so they can be properly used in basic 8th.
These are such good models too... So well sculpted. Looking gorwa8to seeing more!

Good job. Look forward to seeing how you're going to do the basing. What is on the painting line after these dudes?

Great looking plague toads Lizards_of_Renown and think the colours used on them is very good.

Okay, so the bases arrived and the patients all survived their transplants. On the basing, do I need to prime with white first? And it seems like I need to lump on the technical paint... Any advice?

It's a bit hard to tell from the picture. Can't see much of the bases.

Yeah, the Plague Toad models cover the majority of the base.
However, there isn't anything to see as I have done nothing to these bases. I imagine that I need to first paint it white and then put on the technical paints?

I haven't used the texture paints, but I usually prime the sand I use then base paint and drybrush it.
