Good job on the rot toads fella. I look forward to seeing that other fella (is he a big model?) Thanks! Yeah, the Hierotitan is monster sized. Like 6 inches tall. Nice gradient for the painting: the toads which could honestly be a bit sloppy as they are Nurgle for crying out loud and then this guy. I'll need to be crisp with the paint job but he's super big so it's a nice next step.

So I’m mid now, did black undercoating for the gold bits and then painted the gold. Next up, bone on the majority with white highlights.

So I've made some more progress on the Hierotitan and will post photos this evening.
It's amazing the difference that the instruction videos on YouTube make. Miles of difference in my painting quality compared when I was trying to do this as a kid.

Okay, so I did a browny-red as an accent to the bone and gold. Next step is washes

Okay, so I finished what I’m going to do on the model. This was washes, dry brushing and highlights. Not totally happy with the washes, but I think I’ve learned what I did wrong. Happy with the blue flames. Now just need to do basing.

Managed any more painting chap? no... I got reinspired to finish the basing on this guy, so ordered some sand and PVA glue. I'll post when done! I need to find another project... Hierotitan and Beats of Nurgle were both models that I needed... Leaning towards starting an army from scratch... [cue ominous music]

Might I suggest stoking the fires of the Empire war engines?

Might I suggest stoking the fires of the Empire war engines? I'm going to read all the 8th rulebooks that I have again and see where it takes me. Empire is a contender since no-one else in my immediate circle of people who play have this army.

Might I suggest stoking the fires of the Empire war engines? I'm going to read all the 8th rulebooks that I have again and see where it takes me. Empire is a contender since no-one else in my immediate circle of people who play have this army. Well, I'm always looking to recruit a few good Sons of Sigmar (or Ulrik depending)! They are definitely the "Jack of all trades, masters of none" army. They also depend on unit cohesion. Meaning you can't just throw one unit into a face-off with an opponent without support and expect to win. Lots of fun tricks with them though, like setting a Lv1 wizard with Van Horstmann's Speculum in a unit of Halberdiers along with a Witch Hunter, then aim them at the enemy general. Even if the Lv1 doesn't manage to take out the general, you'll have fun with the WH taking a turn. Back them up with a Luminary, and they get a 6++ which goes to a 4++ vs magic missiles due to the WH's magic resistance. Not to mention the extra Dispel Dice and magic laser Canon. So many goodies!!!

If you're intending to paint your new army, and not yet fully confident with painting, there are definitely some armies that are easier to paint to a decent tabletop standard than others.
