This might be a stupid one, but I'm pretty sure that the official Beasts of Nurgle base size is 40mm by 40mm.
I've got some Daemon Plague Toads that I'm going to use as proxies for this, but they come on 50mm by 75mm.
Is there any rule about the base size related to the troop type? They're basically on chariot/monstrous cavalry bases.
Thanks guys.

That is correct: the base size of Beasts of Nurgle is 40x40mm. There is only rule regarding base size (BRB p. 80): "A model should always be mounted on the base it is supplied with. That said, some models aren't supplied with a base. In these cases you should feel free to mount the model on a base of appropriate size, or simply pretend that the model is on a suitably sized base."
Base sizes do matter, for all kind of (fairly obvious) reasons. So, unless you are using the Toads as unit fillers, rather than proxies, it is a non possumus.

Come to think of it, even as unit fillers, it will be nearly impossible, given the different footprint.

Fair enough.
Since this is my painting project and I've already started (and since the models don't fit on a 40mm by 40mm base) I'll just have to check with opponents when I play with them that they're fine with me using them.
Thanks.

In most cases larger base will be an handicap(more opponents will fight back). Some movement measure might benefit(closest range) but also harder to maneuver.
So I hardly see anyone turning a game down because of it. But yes itβs always good sports to tell your opponents before.

I'm sure I've seen Plague Toads on 40mm bases, I considered using them for Beasts myself. If you can, I would just whack them onto 40x40s

Hmmm... Righto. I've started painting them on 50mm by 75mm bases, but they'd probably be fairly easy to get off (since it was just a bit of superglue at the bottom, nothing slotted in...
Any advice for taking the base off?

I would just gently prise them off with a sturdy knife. Assuming they do fit on 40mm.... you have them in front of you

There's slight overhang/bumping you could consider raising every other model up on a bit of Cork or slate? Would add a bit of visual variety to the unit too π€·π»ββοΈ
