What a great tree army.
The freehand banner came out really well imo.

Armies taken a slight sideways shift as, once again, I have been tempted by Middlehammer goodness! I'm looking at a 'similar' scheme to classic wood elves (greens, yellows, browns and red weapon hafts) but with a modern filter to tone down the garishness. These are Tolkien elves, of the hobbit era... Happy to get drunk on wine and sing... But will defend their borders as the need takes them. A test model, to try out the scheme and style, criticism greatly received!

Bit more painting before night shift tonight, cracking on with some bases too. On the subject of which, I don't know why I never got in to painting models separately from their bases.. Perhaps it was my willingness to play with un/part painted minis but, it just makes things so much easier for painting both the model and the base!

I like the color choices. Maybe consider painting them up with gloves? Just so the giant middlehammer hands don't stick out as much? you know what they say about elves with giant hands.

These just look very obviously like hands is my issue.. And my green stuff skills (and patience...) don't stretch far enough to model 30 pairs of gloves tbh. I grew up playing high elves so if monkey hands bothered me, it's been beaten out of me already!

So trying out a different scheme for the elves... Darker, less cheery more 'fangorn forest'. Thoughts?

I think forest folk, even elves, should look a little more weathered, but other than that, it looks good... I'd probably dry brush the cloak with a dirty brown, at least on the bottom. Maybe random stains on the leather. Probably not heavy weathering, due to elven grace. Maybe a few models look newly outfitted; maybe 20% of them. That's what I would do. But I do like the black idea.

OOH Both schemes look rather nice, have you thought of doing alternate units in different colours as both of those would look great! The black cloak does look better, gives him more of a "hide in the shadows of a forest look"...
