I thought it might be an idea to put a thread up, though I don't mean to cause fear mongering or rumours. I've simple noticed some goings on. I manage a couple of various wargaming pages on facebook and active in many more. I don't have any insider knowledge, I only base this on all what I see going on around social media.
A lot of the White Dwarf & older edition rules repositories are gone. Whilst these are obviously breaking copyright, most had been left alone for years. Now with the announcement of W+ having a online library of older white dwarfs, it might be that GW are clamping down on them. The white dwarf article facebook group also vanished a little while ago. Some of the more 'current' warhammer groups have taken to removing white dwarf content- possible just as precaution.
Also, it looks like Warseer will go for good soon too. It never really recovered from the last attack it suffered and no longer gets much traffic. But the new owners have not logged into the page for about a year now and the admins there have not been able to contact them in RL. It might be that something has come up, but the site is in a bad state. Whilst a lot was lost in the attacks, a lot of the photos/logs were all recovered and there is some great resources there still, some of Warhammers history.
I've been reading over old painting logs and saving the ones I love to revisit the most. It will be horrid to find the site closed one day and no longer have such a wealth of inspiration.
If there is anything you've been wanting to grab online or want to save for the future then it might be time to get it. I'll be saving as many of the excellent goblin threads from warseer as and when I can.
I may try and reach out to the internet archive and see if they are able to scrape the site for all the remaining content, it shouldn't be too hard for them to do so as the I don't expect what remains on warseer to be anywehre near the size of some of the sites they save.
