A relatively unimportant but curious thought I had; if we take the rules for removing casualties from a Single line (Page 45) and the rules for the Order in which Command Group models are removed (Page 92 onwards) does that mean that in order to be able to obey the rule on 45 (models must be removed equally from each side of a single line) and the order of dying command models (Musician > Standard Bearer > Champion) we must always field the Champion in the center of the unit, with the Standard Bearer on one side (possibly in the second center position) and the Musician to his other side.
In this case it would be because removing casualties from a single line would always have to start with the the side of the line the Musician is on for Odd numbered front Ranks and the opposite side for Even numbered front ranks. With adjustment for not having all the command alive when the dying begins.
Its not even an issue till you think about it. But once you do there is a "Right" way by implication. Doing it the "Wrong" way will result in you having to break the rule for removing casualties if the unit dies to that point, and it will affect the position of models.
Naturally the page image for the Standard Bearer is a 5 wide unit with a Standard dead center flanked by the other 2, so noone at GW actively thought of this.

It is not an issue, since it is a case of basic versus advanced rules: "Where rules apply to a specific model, they always override any contradicting basic rules"(BRB p. 11). Hence, you do not need to put the CG in the middle (nor, indeed, side by side), since their advanced rules of removing them as casualties trump the basic rules of removing casualties.
Or in other words: unless specifically stated otherwise, normal rules apply. Since the rules for the CG specifically state otherwise, the normal rules of removing casualties do not apply.
