Great unit and I love Bugman chilling in the back making sure everyone is stocked up for drinks.

Lol, there are actually two Bugmans in that group. The one on the barrels in the back and the single figure in the front center.

Getting my Dwarfs ready for transport. This is NEVER easy.

Lovely Rangers I had a similar storage system to you until recently but it was taking me so long to set up games etc I went out and bought a load of flat, low storage boxes and made movement trays for everything. Now I can just lift things in and out of the boxes without having to re-tray everything, and since they are low boxes they stack nicely on top of each other in little space. Well worth it

Yeah, that's kinda what this is. I just bought this one because it was wide (25") and deep (18") and had enough height (6") that I could stand up my flyers in it. I have another box like this with just sprues in it. (I have a lot of models that I have yet to put together!)
I have 10 armies and most of them are about this size. Each army has a box like this dedicated to it, but I still don't think that this is optimal. I have a lot of movement trays that I've made, but not nearly enough for every unit. Plus when you have units that consist of something like 60 Slayers, that makes a huge movement tray or three smaller ones. Either way, that takes up a lot of space. I've even put shelf liner down in a few of my containers like this to try and keep the models from sliding around when I'm transporting them. They don't slide, but usually still fall over.
Anyway, I'm probably going to be taking a new job in Mississippi soon, so I'm trying to box up all my stuff and get it ready for transport. If there are any ideas you guys might have that doesn't cost much and is a good way to move several thousand models, please let me know. Right now, this is the best I can come up with.

Your dwarfs are beautiful. Dwarfs are the only army (and now stormcast eternals I suppose) that are "good guys" that I've ever been tempted to collect/play. These certainly don't make it any easier What I've done to eliminate storage/transport issues: Use a small blob of greenstuff and some superglue to superglue a magnet in the bases of your miniatures (every.single.one.) flush with the ground. Get one of these Sterilite (any brand really that you're happy with) plastic totes and attach (I use spray insulation to attach) a sheet of HVAC metal sheeting to the bottom of the tote. The magnets in the base form a strong bond with the metal sheet, you can store all your minis ranked up and upright without having to worry about them moving around. I can hold mine upside down and the miniatures stay where they are.

I'm glad you like these guys, ryryak!
That's a great idea about transporting models! I simply don't have the number of magnets available to do that with every single one! I'd need thousands!
That being said, I have already magnetized quite a few models, but no where near all of them! I haven't thought about putting the metal down in the container, though. Only movement trays.

I can hold mine upside down and the miniatures stay where they are. Question on this. When you get them out for a battle do you need to rank them up again though because inside the tote they are individual models touching the metal bottom (ie you need to pick up one model at a time)? Or are they on some sort of movement tray so you can pick up this tray the unit stays ranked up and you just drop it on the table?

I store them ranked up and so it's a matter of transferring them to their movement trays. To that end, yes I have to pull them out one-by-one.
I'm debating switching to HVAC sheet metal movement trays, and magnetizing those movement trays to the tote, that way I only have to pull out the movement tray instead of each individual model.
But I like this system it's much easier to put things away and get them out. To be fair though I'm comparing this to people that use foam trays to protect their minis. I did that once and then said never again. I could never figure out where the minis went once I had taken them out! And it took FOREVER to get them out and put them away!

Yeah, the foam trays certainly keep stuff safe, but that's really for small armies.
I tried the HVAC sheets before, but I made the mistake of getting a roll of it to cut instead of getting flat sheets. I couldn't get it to flatten out. Oh, well. I've since been using the magnetic sheets of "paper" you can get from the office supply section of Walmart. It's super easy to cut and fits great into movement trays.

Well, I wanted to give an update on this thread and show my progress with my Longbeard unit. It shouldn't be much longer before I'm done with this lot.

quite impressive! Is that how the standard comes out of the box? how are you going to make the BSB stand out if all standards are awesome like this? (I guess this is a good problem to have)

(I guess this is a good problem to have) Lol, yeah, that's a kit standard. The BSB model is admittedly....disappointing. I've been eyeing the one from Forge World for a while now. It's just SO MUCH to pay for 3 models!
