I'm trying to get back into Warhammer. Mostly Fantasy but also 40K. There is a good local store where I can play. But I want to get my own setup so I can play games at home.
I'm looking for recommendations about buying high quality gaming tables specially tables suited for Warhammer.
I've searched on google and basically every "gaming table" I find for sale has a sunken playing area where there is a four to six inch wall around the playing surface. I don't understand why anybody would want this "feature". It seems like it would be incredibly annoying to judge line of sight or measure distances, etc. And it would ruin the ability to put multiple tables together for a mega battle ie. 40K Apocalypse.

Not sure exactly what you are after but this is a dedicated folding 6*4 table: www.urbanmatz.com/p/237/6-x4-folding-tableQuite often here you use whatever table and just have a 6*4 or 2x 3*4 bits of wood that are laid over the top, with your gaming Mat put over that.

Thanks for the suggestions. But a folding table or a temporary slab of plywood isn't going to cut it. I'm looking for two finished wood tables each with a flat 6' x 4' top. I don't need blinking LEDs or cup holders or USB ports or a recessed playing area or any other gimmicks the "gaming tables" I find via google searches seem to have. I didn't think it would be so difficult to find plain 6' x 4' wood tables for sale.

Yeah all I can offer is if you are in the states alpha gaming table is similar to the urbanmatz one or get a 8x4 slab of wood. If you have the tools, time, and patients/knowledge/talent the best things are always those you built yourself.

Google searches just seems to bring up the same queries as you have. The standard tables for sale seem to either be 6*3 or 6*2 which isn’t helpful.

if a piece of plywood is to lowly, but the LED-gimmicked 'gaming tables' is too much, maybe ask a local craftsman for a quote? People used to do that in the days before amazon.

Right, I actually did start down this path about six months ago. I reached out to a local carpenter. Initially he responded positively and we started talking about details. After a few e-mails back and forth, I asked if I could see his workshop and he ghosted me. No response to my messages. I should try again with another local carpenter.
