I loves me some 8th Edition, but my big GW disappointment is that they never updated the final 3 books into 8th edition, otherwise we would have a fully contained game. I really like the updated Bretonnian book on this site and consider that my 8th edition Bretonnian book. Are there any plans here to update the Beastmen and Skaven books into 8th edition as well? If so, I would be willing to help with whatever I can.

hiportes, Thanks, I'm glad you like the Bretonnian list. Note: it is still in the play test stages, so please feel free to playtest and post your results and comments in regards. The end product will be a full color PDF with painted models and background, etc. As far as other books, I agree, I wish GW had made 8th edition hardbacks for both Skaven and Beastmen (as well as Brets). Even so, those two were the last 7th edition army books and were clearly written with 8th edition in mind. The Skaven army list works perfectly in 8th edition and did get reinforcements with Warhammer: Thanquol. The Beastmen book fell a bit short, mainly due to a change of writers in the middle of the project, however, they did get a kind of update with Warhammer: Glottkin. In the Chaos Legions army list, Beastmen units can get Marks of Chaos (not to mention mix with Daemons and Warriors). The mission of EEFL is to preserve the game and to continue playing it with the published supplements without modifying them. The exception was Bretonnia since their most current army book was written for 6th edition. Skaven don't require an update of any kind, indeed they are one of the top armies in 8th edition and for the reasons stated above. The Beastmen book is ok, but I recommend using the Legions of Chaos army list in order to play Beastmen.

I think those are fair answers. I agree that Skaven do not really need it (just a new unit or two in an 8th book would be cool, but they got that in the End Times). For Beastmen, I will have to check to see if some of the points costs got reworked in the Legions of Chaos list (specifically those rares). The Beastmen can still be pretty good (I hate their Ambush rules and they lost a little flavor from the heavy skirmish they used to be, in my opinion), I will look into those lists again to see if any of that changed, thanks for the reminder.
Love what you all are doing here. I will try to corral some players and do some more Bret tests and actually report what I find.

Just to say on the topic of Beastmen rares I have posted updated rules for the Jabberslythe (Jabberslythe Alpha) in the expansion section which my gaming group have used for the 275 point Jabberslythe for the past few years. These rules are a buff while keeping the creature fundamentally the same and not changing its points.

Some comp packs gave beastmen rares regeneration during 8th. I liked that switch

Some comp packs gave beastmen rares regeneration during 8th. I liked that switch Yeah it's pretty fluffy for them imo. I definitely prefer that over those comp packs where all they did was give the army some extra points. I've never actually played with a tournament comp pack before but I was always curious to see what other gamers were doing. The closest I ever got to tournament style play was when in a random pickup game at a GW store I completely demolished some WAAC player under standard 8th edition rules. He forfeited after his general and main 2 units were destroyed (I have never ever forfeited.. why not just play it out see what happens? It's all about the story anyway) He then went on a huge tirade decrying that my Chaos Dwarfs were completely broken and that I had killed his hobby... (I had deliberately not fielded magma cannons or a destroyer as I feel they are OP). After he left everyone else in the store started laughing and congratulated me saying how that guy was a tool and kept bragging about his skills and how he had just come 1st place in a Warhammer fantasy tournament. Moral of the story... Fear the casual player and fear Hashut!

I have seen a number of games turn right around despite the odds and those are some of the most fun games and ones I remember for a long time.

Those epic momentum shifts are 8th edition at its finest. Also even if you are getting smashed there are always those little moral victories to go for like slaying their general or fancy little unit.

To be honest, I don't think skaven really need an update. The final book is the best army book they've had, and it came out at just the right time: early enough so we still got all the fun 7th magic items, late enough so it's actually viable. The one thing I do lament though is the complete lack of lore attributes. Really wish we had them.
Brets and beastmen definitely need an update though. They're still pretty good armies in the hands of a skilled player, but they're seriously lagging behind the others.

The only thing I miss about skaven is the sort of spell it is (hex/direct damage). Apart from that, they're good enough. And we have only pitted beastmen and brets versus each other so we haven't seen a difference yet. But I believe you guys :-)

So the title of this thread is Beastmen in 8th... Do we have a thread of accepted rules/FAQ/errata for Beastmen in 8th? Any rules changes? New Units? Point changes?

I recommend using the Legions of Chaos army list in order to play Beastmen. OK. Where can I find this? Anyone have the PDF? If not, which set/book do I need to find & purchase?

It is in the Glottkin book, I can post the relevant pics up if you like (if I am allowed). Otherwise give me a pm Basically BM get to use marks, eye of the gods & reign of chaos tables. Makes them a bit more interesting.
