So last year's thread didn't get much interest past January, but I'm persistent so will try again This is a chance to set some bigger projects for yourself rather than the "let's get some models done" monthly goals. That could be starting a new army, finishing one off, painting a certain number of models over the year, finishing off your scenery, or getting an army ready for a campaign. I'm setting myself the following targets: - Paint more models than I get - the big goal, and one I want to achieve every year. I managed it last time, let's keep at it. Never mind that at the current rate of cutting into my backlog, I'll need the lifespan of an elf to finish everything!
- Paint over 200 models - this gives me an extra goal in case I buy nothing this year (unlikely) or at least gives me something achievable if I end up buying hundreds and hundreds of models I've made it over this level the last two years.
- Finish off one army - I've got fully painted Dark Elf and Dwarf armies, let's get another one complete. Probably my Orcs and Goblins. I considered finishing my Vampire Counts, but I have so many big models (Mortis Engine, Coven Throne, Zombie Dragon, Terrorgheist, new Black Coach etc.) to do there's no way I could finish them this year and retain my sanity.
- Paint models from at least 8 different armies - so that none of them feel too neglected.
- Make a start on my Lizardmen and Ogres - I should be able to get at least some regular troops done for both of these.
- Paint at least two of my long-neglected centrepiece models - I'm thinking of the great big lumps of resin, such as my Mierce Kholek Suneater, or Forgeworld Merwyrm, Carmine Dragon, Magma Dragon and Iron Daemon.
I reckon 1-3 I should achieve, the others might be a push.
What are your goals for the year?

Wow, big footprints to follow on your list, yikes!
1. I’d like to finish off units from my original 4 armies. I have stuff built and primed, they just need proper paint on them now.
2. My buddy and I want to build a Mordheim board. We’ll see if we get past the planning stages.
3. I’d like to paint more terrain this year too. I have tons primed, so let’s hope I can knock some out quickly!
Gonna keep it at that, no new armies this year unless I crush the top 3 goals (crosses fingers)!
Best, The Keep

These big plan goals are so difficult for me since my interests zig-zag more than a Jack Rabbit who just downed a gallon of espresso!
But I'm game to give it a try.
1. Finish all planned commissions in a timely fashion. Obviously, the faster, the better.
2. Last year I set a goal of painting up a workable Beastmen army and keeping up with painting them as they rolled in so that it wouldn't become a HUGE task. I feel like I achieved that for the most part, but in December, I got quite a few new models to make them a "proper" army. Now I need to finish them off so that I have a completely painted army.
3. I'm very close to finishing off my Ogre army. I just have one Thundertusk left to build/paint. I'd love to get them finished.
4. I'd also love to get a huge chunk of my Empire and Dwarf armies done. That's a pretty HUGE task (especially for my Empire models), but I think I could make good headway on both.
There's probably more but I can't think about it right now. I reserve the right to add to this if it occurs to me. 😁

My main painting goals for 2022 are: 1. Paint my Lothlorien warband for LotR, along with small Rivendell and Rohan warbands as potential allies. 2. Paint up a box of Imperial Armada figures for Freebooter’s Fate. 3. Finish my Roman warband for Saga. 4. Make some more progress on my Albion and Chaos armies. 5. Paint some stuff just for fun, too, and try out some new techniques in the process.

I want to finish my dark elves. I most likely won't.

1. Paint at least 20 minutes every day 2. Paint the 2500 point Empire army I've planned to paint every year since 2016 3. Paint a dragon for my High Elves 4. Paint a Black Coach for my VC

I did ok last year, hit most of my goals, though I only got to 304 models instead of getting to 365 like I wanted.
I have some big goals this year as I'm in a couple of painting challenges the first half of 2022. One of them is a Tale of X Gamers starting next month, so I'll be doing at least 1750 points of...... something for that one, not sure on the army yet. The other challenge I'm doing is at least one full cavalry unit each month for the first six months of the year, though I hope two do at least twice that.
The second half of the year my plan is terrain, and as many Nurgle miniatures as I can stomach painting.
In terms of raw numbers, I'd like to do more than 365 models, that's my current personal best, and I'm always looking to improve.

Leaving out general army painting (Skaven plague monk army) the thing I've never really tackled is converting so this can be my year long challenge.
Now the difficult thing is deciding what to do. 😂 Any ideas?

It's a good way to start getting into things like drilling and pinning.

My painting goal for 2022 is basically the same as it was last year: 125 models. I didn't manage last year's goal. The last quarter of the year was rough--both my dad and brother-in-law passed away. But it turns out that my dad was so proud of my painting he would never shut up about it to other people; so this year, I'm definitely gonna make that goal happen. Also, I want to try and turn my dad into an Empire general that I can 3d print. I think he'd like that.

I'm loath to make grand painting promises since I always fair so poorly.
I'll be happy if I get the Khorne segment of my daemons finished. Not even that many models...

I gonna finish all armies I have (Beasts, WoC, Skaven, O&G). Some models aren't assembled/painted. So, "Slay the gray!" challenge . Maybe I'll start new ones (Chaos Dwarfs and/or Vamps).

Now the difficult thing is deciding what to do. 😂 Any ideas? VC ghouls are perfect for plague monks conversion. Maybe some 40k plague dudes (zombies? I don't remember, they were in the starter) and/or other nurgly things (censers, clothes, mutations). And you simply must make your own Plague Priest! Also some unit fillers (fight with lizardmen; monks with plague cauldron)

My main one is to continue to paint regularly, flitting between whatever army takes my fancy.
I will attempt to finish off my Beastmen, currently around 10 Gor, 5 centigor and a good handful of Minotaurs. (I’m desperately trying to hold off repainting a number of the mino’s and ghorgons to match the colour of the Gor). Though let’s be honest the army is bound to expand this year too as it needs more raiders and some cygor.
I will attempt not to start any new armies.
I aim to paint at least one of the many bloodbowl teams I own.
