Well. I can't really muster the strength to write a proper battle report. Hat is off to those who do. But, still thought some might enjoy a couple pictures from a recent 5k game of Tamurkhan lists. A chaos list vs a Dread Host (monsters led by a mighty dragon).

Chaos carried the day. But it was scary at times. That was one big dragon.

...not too mention that tide of chaos spawn! We found the Dread Host list a bit weak but I suppose a lot depends on the monster models available (also helps when the hell cannon never misses or misfires). Anybody else has experience with that army list?

Nice, love the Dragon and the base.
I think the Dread Host is probably weak if you play it under normal circumstances. If you roll off the Tamurkhan table it's a 66% chance of a Dawn Attack or Meeting Engagement which helps the list imo. It disrupts proper armies organisation and monsters move faster and more flexibly.
We also played no access to LoA at that point since it was the phase they are subjugated

oh, good point on the scenarios. something to keep in mind.
I've also realized that game size makes a big difference. There is no percentage limitation on the dragon general and at e.g. 2K that same 800+ dragon would have been even more of a headache.
For us this was a one-off game, so full Great Host was available to Chaos. One day we hope tackle the whole Tamurkhan campaign...one can dream.

Looks like a cracking game! Between this and the game in the Tamurkhan thread I really fancy giving the Dread Host a go now. Having had a quick skim of the (one para) of army selection guidance for it and of Storm of Magic (and not having time to have a proper look) i can't see anything allowing the warhound and chaos spawn units? Did you house rule those? They seem like very thematic inclusions and i've got the models to use them myself.

good spot.
Chaos Spawn are allowed in Dread Hosts but cannot form units. We let them use the 'Tide of Spawn' rules from the Volganof-specific rules (BRB in the back). They get 3D6 movement! There is also the practical matter of time saved for not having to resolve ten spawn going all over the place. That unit was very hard to crack, T5 and unbreakable. Almost makes spawn viable.
Warhounds are not allowed, as you say (though not sure why, they fit. same with e.g. spiders. Not sure why they didn't include warbeasts). We needed to fill the core as we were short models for the size game we wanted. The big units look impressive but couldn't really contribute much, Ld5 really hurts.
Thanks for the interest. Give it a go!
