...alright, maybe not ALL its glory. But, there will be some glorious Chaos miniatures which is to say the Khorne and Tzeentch variety (the other two are 'eeew' in different ways after all). It seemed like high time to start contributing to this forum and do my part in keeping 8th Edition alive. I hope some of you will find this project log inspiring and I am happy to answer any and all questions (or simply bath in praise and appreciation). Let's start out with a mighty Chariot, thundering across the parched steppes of the Dark Lands (aka California). It's a pretty straightforward mix of old metal chariot and new horses. And adding a regular warrior as the halberd wielder. I quite like how it came together. I am currently working on a unit of chaos dwarfs and here are the first few. The mighty Gbar'eil, Destroyer of Worlds and two of his bodyguards. No, these aren't outcast slavers from the south, they have proper big hats and wouldn't look out of place in the capital. The models are from ' Alternative'. I had to do quite a bit of bubble filling. The casting quality of their resin models is acceptable to me, certainly considering the price. They do sell the same sculpts in metal and claim these are better. Okay, I'll leave it at that for now. I will copy over some content from a now defunct warseer log in the next days. Seems like recently I have been going through a bit of a 'yellow phase' but I promise there are other colors ahead. Cheers.

Looks great
And that chariot is one of the more difficult models to paint to a high standard.

Love the ground setting for the photos it looks great.
Chariot is very well painted.
It's really interesting to see some of the Alternative Chaos Dwarfs painted up. Gbar'eil's face mask gives the model a unique menace

Looking great. Fine work on the mix and match chariot. It looks great with the more modern horse sculpts.

Thanks guys for all the kind words! It's really interesting to see some of the Alternative Chaos Dwarfs painted up. Gbar'eil's face mask gives the model a unique menace well, you should see him when he takes off that mask! I've now finished the shooter unit except for the banner which tends to be the hardest for me on any unit. Will post as soon as they are all done. In my effort to pull together my chaos painting efforts, here is a unit I finished a few years ago. Chaos Warriors of Khorne. I have a bit of a love-hate thing going on with the chaos warriors. On the one hand, back in the days it was great to get chaos models with heads on their shoulders not sprouting out of their chests. But, their uniformity is bothering me, in particular for frenzied Khorne nutters. So, I did some conversion work attempting to put variety and dynamics into the unit. Most got some Khorne love in the form of bestial mutations. And, they did get a pet dog. Also, there are a few Reaper Bones guys in the mix. They come with funny little heads, I changed these to proper heroic scale GW ones. A close-up of a few guys. Chaos Warriors aren’t the easiest to convert, the lockstep one foot forward pose is really tiring, beastman bits helped. Here is the Empire at its best: Going against a monstrosity with puffy sleeves and slippers.

I like them but you hit the nail on the head with the criticism of that warrior set. Terribly static and boring out of the box.

The warriors unit is great, I like your small touches. The Beastlord is a cool mini.

Here is another blast from my past. More Khorne I present to you angry Fleshounds of Khorne (from a few generations back). I didn’t want to do the classic neon-green for the frills, and waffled around for a bit trying to find the right color. Happy with the end result. Age-appropriately, these models do have some terrible gaps and badly sculpted areas but, overall I like their pose and how they slink along. Menacing in a way. Also, who could say no to spiked club tails! Here is the big dog himself, Karanak. Obviously a different generation but the paint job helps to tie them together. I rescued him from the pound (i.e. flea market). One of his loose legs didn’t fit and required extensive reconstructive surgery, one head was missing so I had to make do with a regular dog head. I recon he looks the part now though.

Thanks guys! Glad you like the hounds. I am in a bit of a travel season for work and it turns out there are still a few places left on this earth where internet is too slow to look at pictures on a forum so I wasn't able to partake much. Back home for a few days now before the next leg and all caught up. I love how the activity level here has really taken off. Anyway, I did sneak in a little paint session tonight and worked on a vortex beast. I don't like the stock pose of waving-and-about-to-fall-over so repositioned one arm which required a bit of shoulder surgery. I finished painting most of the model but now I am struggling with that fireball rack thing on the back. It's not glued on and I am wondering if I should just leave it off. The model is incredibly busy already. Hoping to get some opinions. And, if you suggest to attach that fireball, better give me some ideas on how to paint it as well. I really am stuck here.

Awesome. I love the Vortex Beast kit. I'd love to get it one day.
This is the first time ive seen one reposed. How hard was it to repose it? Did you just use greenstuff or was something else required?
I love the vortex itself.......amazing bit....but it does kinda distract a bit from the beast proper.
The blue looks very luscious.
