a bit of an update on the chaos side of things. I finished up a Hobgoblin khan. (the iron daemon in the background now has some base coats but, still pretty far to go) - arms from flagellants, legs from militia (both shortened quite a bit) - head is some goblin..not sure what kit - torso is old dwarfs (when they came with separate torso+legs) - spear is mostly saurus - saber is Empire handgunner - shield is Chaos marauder foot and of course a Fenris wolf yep, I went deep into the bits box. and as mottdon pointed out previously, not a lot of goblin in there. and here are way too many pictures of the painted guy. I am quite fond of the snarling wolf and the rider looks okay. unfortunately I went a bit far with the whitish highlight in the end. it isn't quite as bad from a two feet away. That last is to show the cloak which I tried to do in the same colors as the wolf fur. I imagine when a wolf gets old and lame the hobgoblins will not let him live out his life in peace on a pasture. It is a cruel world.

The goblin lord looks fantastic!
Regarding mount for the sorcerer. Is there any way to forge a disc to fit him? The slanesh steed also might work or a demonic steed from the varanguard kit might be big enough?

strutsagget, sorry for replying so late. I think I will go with a juggernaugt for the manticore lord after all. The sorceror gets to stay on the manticore then. stay tuned for that. ---------- 27Jul2018 Howdy. After pushing through the Imperial knight unit it was time for something fun. And, somehow Lord Mortkin needs to get his siege engines to Volganof. So here we go: The Iron Daemon is one of those models where at some point one just has to stop and accept that there are too many details to highlight them all. I’ve certainly had my fill of rivets. The crew is quite fun and unique…but then they get glued so far into the machine, nobody will ever be able to get a good look. Overall a really cool model and I wouldn’t mind doing another one day. As I was snapping these pictures I realized I have another tank. And so, DEMOLITION DERBY: (although they really don’t fight in the same weight class, I was surprised how close they are in size)

painted? 13 shooters, a khan, a sorceror, a hell cannon and now the iron daemon. so, no. I will need to tackle a block of melee dwarfs. then another khan, a BSB and a magma cannon. that should about do it. In the meantime I would pad out the above with chaos warriors as per the Tarmurkhan rules if I could find a game...

Santa Cruz, CA. I am desperate enough to play a game of 9th Age tomorrow. Please don't kick me off the forum. I saw on the 8th FB Page there was someone based in Sunnydale (or Sunnyvale - can’t remember which one isn’t from buffy). Anyway it’s only around 30miles from you so have linked this post to him

alright! Not much time for painting lately. But, I did get a bit done here and there. So here is a mighty Skullcrusher of Khorne. Or a Lord on Manticore. I played around a bit with the reds on the jugger, mixing different kinds of 'dull' tones. Quite like the shade on the back leg armor. As you may remember, the manticore I’ve shown earlier came with two riders and I struggled for a bit to find an extra mount. This one of course won’t work for the sorceror but it fits the Khorne lord okay. Thanks to ryrak for pointing this out.

The manticore rider models are such great models (far better than the manticore itself), it's good you've found an appropriate mount for him.

Woe betide any ants who get in his way! hey! he should be able to tackle bigger things. a caterpillar, maybe? How did you paint the wood of the spear on the hobgoblin Khan? nothing special. just brown basecoat and plenty of agrax earthshade. there is also some bleeding over of nuln oil from the metal parts. the key bit that helps is having the spear part be ~horizontal while it's drying. (and sometimes I turn it upside down as well in the middle). this prevents unsightly pooling.
