Hi, since my Warseer paint log has seemingly bitten the bullet I thought I would continue on with it here I started playing in the early 90s in 4th edition with my brother, we split the starter so O&G was my first army & he took the High Elves. Between us we then went on to collect Dwarfs, Warriors of Chaos, Empire & Vampire Counts and my wife decided to get some Daemons. I have set about 8th-ifying all of the armies because after a break from the hobby in 6th-7th all the armies really needed some work to bring them up to speed, never mind correcting the paint jobs I did when I was 12 or whatever. So my blog will probably contain bits and pieces from all these armies plus some Big Hat Chaos Dwarfs I have been hoarding off ebay for a while. To start off I have a few of The Hobbit Great Eagles for the High Elves. Quite nice models, really easy to put together and definitely an improvement on the old ones I have also been trying to finish off my banners from my most recently completed units. I have got some White Lions, Dwarf Hammerers, Miners & Thunderers who all needed banners making so I made some out of Greenstuff. I have started to make some progress on these but have not had time to get it photographed yet, will be coming soon

Lookin' great! (I really like those Hobbit Great Eagles too. Mine double for both my HE and WE.).
The green stuff banners look amazing as well! I've never been brave enough to try my hand at that.
Keep the pics coming though!

Ta The banners aren't that hard once you actually get going. I just sketch out what I am planning on doing first in pencil to see if my drawing skills are even up to it, then have a practice on the paper if needed. I actually got a little bit of time the other day so my brother came over and we had a quick 2500 point game Orcs & Goblins Vs Vampire Counts. We don't play massively optimised lists, more just what we fancy taking. I went with a bit of a monster mash I will try and do a proper battle report at some point complete with maps and stuff but for now just a roughly in order selection of pictures and what I remember happened The armies lined up The first few turns, both armies advanced. The Rock Lobber blew itself up at the first opportunity. The Goblin Shamen threw out Curse of the Bad Moon towards the crappy VC horde infantry. I was trying to not let his Hexwraiths nobble my Mangler First contact!, The Mangler went through the Ghouls and landed just short of the Blood Knights & Vampire Lord (boo). The Pump Wagon also hit the Ghouls and did basically nothing. The Wraiths then charged the Trolls and the Fanatics were released. The Hexwraiths were magiced to death.

Also, those savage greenskin huts (the scenery) look like they are made exactly to the GW 1997 "Scenery Book" spec. Well done, and well thatched for a gobbo.

Haha I will finish it off shortly, had to do some actual work The huts were built as per the instructions in white dwarf for the raid linked scenario. Probably the same as the scenery book

I see your brother's undead fielded in horde vs bus formation. My gut says to go horde (because I can 😄), but in games I feel like that allows my opponent to get more models in base with my garbage core troops. How does he fare using these hordes?

I tend to think the same but he is adamant about using hordes. They worked surprisingly well in that battle despite him having the most awful set of magic phases to support them (he rolled all 3 & 1s and stuff). He probably only managed to cast 1 or 2 spells in the entire game. I guess the real test would be against more elite armies than Orcs & Goblins

RE: Hordes.
I think it's all about your opponent. If you facing Chaos Warriors, a 'bus' formation probably makes more sense - the the skeletons are going to be getting mauled. However, against certain armies like Empire, Skaven, Goblins, Elves, etc. Hordes should work well.
A spear armed unit can dish out potentially 41 attacks!

Great start to your project log. The saddest part about the demise of warseer (and now TWF) is the loss of all these long running project logs that were such a great source of inspiration.
How about showing us some Chaos Dwarfs? I am curious!

warseer is down and has been for a while. will it ever come back? who knows.
TWF doesn't accept new members, has 'run its course' according to the head honcho and is left to wither away.

Warseer got hacked and is currently dead. Shame there was lots of good stuff there.
The Chaos Dwarfs are currently entirely unpainted and will be coming soon as I start on them. I will take a few pics of what I have, taken me a year of ebaying to get them together. They will most likely be up next once I finish the banners I am working on and my mounted Wight King BSB conversion

I think Warseer is pretty much gone for good. Great to see you start a log here.
Liked the battle report/photos. Badluck with the Aracknarok missing its attacks when you had that lovely flank charge on the bloodknights. Great scenery and it was a joy to see the two Dogs of War giants doing their thing.
Excellent stuff
