Friday night we had a 2 vs. 2 team battle with 2,000 points a player. I used Skaven and teamed up with Warriors of Chaos (mix of Nurgle and Slaanesh). Our opponents were Empire teamed with Ogres.
Rough from memory army lists were:
Skaven - 50 slaves, 20 clanrat character bunker, poisoned wind mortar attached, 40 stormvermin, ratling gun attached, rat dart (5 giant rats plus handler), 4 rat ogres, doom wheel, warplightning cannon, grey seer, chieftain bsb, assassain with potion of strength, warplock engineer level 1 with warp energy condenser, 3 stormfiends
Warriors - ~6 chaos knight x2 units, chariot, ~20 nurgle great weapon warriors, chimera, nurgle daemon prince, exhalted character on damonic mount
Ogres - ~10 bulls x2 units, ~10 ironguts, 2 mournfang cav, 4 sabertusks, tyrant, slaughter master
Empire - 20 handgunners, 14 handgunners, 12 crossbows x2 units, 5 pistoleers, 5 outriders x2 units, cannon, hellblaster volley gun x2 units, steam tank, budget character on griffin, 2 engineers with the hellblasters.
Deployment Pictures
I didn’t take many in game pictures so this will be pretty brief. We did a blind deployment and warriors ended up across from the empire gun line. Skaven across from ogres. The empire shooting (especially the two volley guns with engineers) inflicted heavy losses to the warriors in the first two turns. Skaven shooting and magic took out some ogres but by the time combat started there were still plenty of ogres left in the fight.
Grey seer cast death frenzy on stormvermin horde early in game giving them two extra attacks each. But that spell causes d6 wounds at the end of each of your turns. I rolled a 5 and 6 for casualties the first two times. So that cut into the unit size more than would have been ideal. I believe I cast on turn 1, next time I will wait a bit longer (or buy another stormvermin rank for 70 points to get up to 50 strong).
By turn 4 warriors had pretty much been shot off table. Skaven and ogres engaged in several good combats including stormvermin who got 30 attacks from just front rank. But eventually the ogres superior strength and toughness broke through the larger skaven numbers.
Skaven warplightning cannon took a shot at empire general on griffin and ended up one shooting both the character and mount. Another skaven highlight was assassain revealed himself in stormvermin unit and drank potion of strength. He was also subject to death frenzy. So he had 5 always strike first attacks at strength 7. He ended up doing 4 wounds on his own.
We didn’t add points at the end but game was clearly an ogre/empire win. Probably a solid victory.
It was a fun time with lots of laughs had by all even if it wasn’t too close of a game.
