I was revising my Dwarf army list when I noticed something - I spotted that a Daemon Slayer can take a Runic Weapon 'only' worth 100 points, compared to all other Dwarf characters who get to spend 25 extra points as part of their Magic Item allowance, including their Hero counterpart, the Dragon Slayer.
Was this a mistake on the part of GW or intended to keep the Daemon Slayer balanced in their eyes?

Other characters can take runic talismans and runic Armour.
A dwarf lord can take 125 points, and a Runelord can take 150. The different allowances are meant to be on purpose.

Even so, a Dragon Slayer has 25pts more than normal. The same as a Thane. More so than normal for heroes of other armies.
A Daemon Slayer has 100pts worth. The same as normal lord choices from other armies. Less so than the lord choices within the same Armybook.
The 3 runes for the Weapon 'Rune of Daemon Slaying' adds up to 125pts. The Daemon Slayer cannot take 3 runes of its own name.
I think that's the point being raised.

Indeed it is, it makes little sense for the Dragon Slayer to follow the trend of the other Dwarf heroes by having an extra 25 points Magic Item allowance, but for the Daemon Slayer to not follow the trend of the other Lord choices in the same way.

Basically, take a Dragon Slayer (> Daemon Slayer). You get more bang for your buck.

It's a reflection on the daemon slayers rules, when struck by a daemon slayer all successful ward saves have to be re-rolled and like the dragon slayer he also does D3 damage on monsters.

Also the I suspect GW limiting the points on a daemon slayer was one to prevent them being too OP and two because they shun armour etc don't need the extra point allowance that a Lord would for armour.

Yup, so, Dragon Slayer gets 75pts (weapon runes only), Daemon Slayer gets 100pts (weapon runes only). I would imagine the Daemon Slayer not being able to take the 3rd RO Daemon Slaying is because he already gets pretty much the same bonuses through his Slayer rules (D3 wounds, re-roll ward saves)

Yeah, you get a fully kitted Dragon Slayer for 145pts.
The same kit on a Daemon Slayer is 215pts.
Yeesh.
Fully kitted Daemon Slayer is 240,tho.
