I think GW will release Warhammer: The Old World next summer. GW wants to release a new edition of a tentpole game every summer - 2022 : Warhammer: The Horus Heresy
- 2021 : Age of Sigmar 3rd edition
- 2020 : 40K 9th edition
Next summer must be either Warhammer: The Old World or Middle Earth: Strategy Battle Game. Warhammer: The Old World makes more sense. Expect the media blitz to begin first quarter 2023. Agree, disagree, thoughts?

I find it unlikely - GW release a new Edition for AoS and 40K every 3 years now (which, alongside the pointless 'compulsory' General's Handbook/Chapter Approved every year I disagree with because it doesn't give the existing Editions enough time to breathe), so unless they facilitate an enormous break with tradition (which I suppose isn't entirely out of the question given the COVID pandemic stopped people from getting out and playing 9th when it first dropped), I reckon 2023 will be 40K 10th Edition (*YAWN*), and then 2024 will be AoS 4th Edition, meaning the earliest TOW will be is Summer 2025. This certainly sounds more likely given how GW have currently released so little news on it.

Agreed, three years for one edition? Insane.. Take it easy.. Sure, drop some updates - if needed..! But come on.. I do hope we get the Old World next summer though. Suits me pretty well, I have time to do some shit and it is a nice timing. So for ME, great. Hehe. Now all I.. We need is a good mix of 6th and a little bit of 8th Ed..

For announced upcoming codex books we have: Squats (Autumn 2022), Imperial Guard (Winter 2023), and World Eaters (Winter 2023). With 40K 8th edition they followed the codex books with a series of nine campaign books -- the Psychic Awakening series. If they do something similar for 40K 9th edition, releasing a 4K 10th edition Summer 2023 would be too soon. I don't know, maybe I'm just too biased towards Warhammer: The Old World getting a release date.

I'm afraid 2023 will already be too late and the critical mass hype from Total War: Warhammer III will have dissipated. Past 2023 it is practically guaranteed to be ancient history. IDK, maybe Total War: Warhammer 4 is coming?

Yeah.. I thought so too, but I mean, if it has not happened already - it sure HAS to 2023 to have any benefit from the game..

I wouldn't put too much weight into "traditional" cycles. Games Workshop is a commercial entity and does whatever it means is best for business. If tradition would be GW's motivation, WFB wouldn't have been discontinued in the firs place, would it!? With regards to what will be released next summer, all we can do I to guess and speculate. Believing in traditions could lead to disappointment though.

Yea, if Warhammer: The Old World is going to be a tentpole game for GW, they will not be able to maintain a three year cycle for new editions of all their tentpole games without releasing two in the same year. and I don't see that happening. It makes more sense that they will move to a four year cycle going forward. Plus releasing new editions of 30K this year and 40K next year is too much grimdark sci-fi. Slotting a new fantasy release (WH:ToW) in between those would be a good move.

GW already dropped the ball with the original TW: Warhammer. While that was being developed, GW did not conceive a campaign to support and take advantage of it, but rather decided to scuttle WFB altogether.

I will stay in the "hopeful, but doubting it" camp for the time being.
Current word on the streets seems to be 40K 10th edition for 2023, and AoS could very well see its 4th edition in 2024... which would set up TOW for 2025 at the earliest. I would hate it to be so, but would not call it impossible either...

I'm not really concerned. I don't believe the TOW will be better than WFB 8E.
