Gather round fair maidens, foul beasts and those in between and listen to my tale of the elves of the wooded realm.
I am a returning player to Warhammer Fantasy, having played extensively between 5th and 8th, I have taken an extended period of time away dabbling only in painting here and there as the whim took me. I am looking now to return to where I was with a standing army, and plenty of gaming with it!
To that end I am looking towards a Wood Elf amy, the trials and tribulations of which I plan to record here. Initially a painting blog as I accumulate the models required and paint them up through to an eventual battle blog as they go out and wreck havoc amongst my local group. I am building this army in secret from them, and plan to unveil it once I have a 2k army painted and ready to play with. I'll be building the force from a majority of 4th/5th edition models, with some more modern sculpts as I feel it is appropriate.
So, to start with the planned army -

+ Rare +
Great Eagle [50pts]: Great Eagle

Here I'm looking at an avoidance/shooting wood elf list. Each character takes a unit of glade guard each to sit in, making them deployed 8x3 for full shooting each turn. Hagbane tips throughout as they were my favourite arrows to take. Characters are as bare bones as possible in order to take as many bodies as I can. I am flexible on the lore - High feels right, to give some tokena to protect the general? Perhaps shadow is better overall though?
Now, for the paint scheme - I am looking for something different to just the greens and browns of every other force. I'm thinking at the moment of the shadows of the forest, the 'grey' of the woodelves compared to the white high elves and black dark elves.
I'm thinking grey cloth with black trim, deep red weapon hafts, dark broken leather and deep emerald gems. Thoughts? Has this been done?
I look forward to taking you on this journey, once models arrive and this process can begin, and I hope you enjoy listening to this tale as much as I'll enjoy telling it.
