It's ya boy, back again to ask some more experienced people on the internet to help craft a list.
I am considering the following list, with a few concerns:
Lords:
Archmage, Level 4, BoH, ToP, Shadow or Life (320 Points)
Heroes:
Noble, BSB, Heavy Armor, Shield of the Merwyrm, Sword of Might (134 Points)
Core:
15x Archers, Musician (160 Points)
15x Archers, Musician (160 Points)
5x Ellyrian Reavers, Bow and Spear (95 Points)
5x Ellyrian Reavers, Bow and Spear (95 Points)
(510 Points of Core, more on this below.)
Special:
19x Phoenix Guard, Full Command (315 Points)
27x Swordmasters, Full Command (381 Points)
Rare:
Frostheart Phoenix (240 Points)
Great Eagle (50 Points)
Great Eagle (50 Points)
Total:
2000/2000
I was originally thinking of bunking my mage in with the Phoenix Guard, and BSB with the Swordmasters, but I'm reading a lot of opinions stating that the Wizard's unit should never really want to be in combat. I know that a High Mage in with the Phoenix Guard is a dastardly trick, but I am unsure if that is the route that I would like to go. I could run the Mage in with the Swordmasters when I run Lore of Life for the Regen save, but again I want that unit to engage in good fights without worrying about my Wizard.
Another thought I had would be to drop the Noble to Light Armor (-4 Points) and drop an Archer (-10 Points, brings Core to exactly 500) to bring another Swordmaster (+13 Points) so that I can run my Mage in the bunker of 14 Archers, and run the BSB in with the PG. This brings me to 1999 Points. My concerns here are that the BSB would only be on a 5+ with a 4++ Parry, and my Archer bunker could get Panicked off the table vs. good shooting.
What have people had success with in the past? Are there any glaring issues here besides what has been discussed? Would I benefit from tweaking points to take magic banners? This would be my first time running Archers ever, so I am curious to see how swapping around my core swaps around the whole list.
Also I do not get very many opportunities to play, so I like to make sure my lists are refined before showing up to my games. Thank you again for any advice that you may have!
