So I'm looking for ideas for a Kholek conversion...
What is the assumed/accepted base size? Both type of dragon ogres (plastic kits and shaggoth) have different base sizes
What would people use for the actual model if I want to use only GW? I'm thinking for the legs either carnosaur or magma dragon? The top half, something beastman? Giant? Bloodthirster?
All opinions welcome!

If I get me one someday, I will use this model... and it will only fit on an Arachnarok base.

But nevertheless, your own conversion should be about the same size, Kholek is described as being really huge.

A lot of googling seems to suggest 50mm though... As a monster special character, and other monster ( as well as the shaggoth, how cognate) being on this sized base

I really think that's too small.

A lot of googling seems to suggest 50mm though... As a monster special character, and other monster ( as well as the shaggoth, how cognate) being on this sized base This is based purely on the Shaggoth. While I use a Kholek model on a 50 x 50 (oop 3rd party sculpt) this isn't an official size so you have a fair bit of flexibility. A 150 x 100 base wouldn't be considered out of line or a chariot base. Mierce has some great equivalent models. If using purely gw then the Carnosaur for tail/legs would be pretty cool. For torso you could use almost anything from a giant to a daemon prince.

Base size - there's no official base size for Kholek in 8th, as he didn't have a model. The closest to an "official" size would be 50x50mm, because that's what a regular Shaggoth had. However, you could make an argument for any of 100x50mm, 100x60mm and 150x100mm bases for Kholek - he's meant to be bigger than a Shaggoth, the Shaggoth only had that small base as it was an old model, and if Kholek had been released in 8th, he would definitely have had a much larger base. I wouldn't worry too much about base size though - by the time 8th rolled around, GW put new plastic monsters on whatever base size they fitted on, without much thought for how their rules/fluff related to it. My recommendation would be for the model you build to decide what base it goes on, not the other way around. Non-GW models - as GMW says, the Mierce version is generally considered the best one option on the market. Here's him painted if you haven't seen it before: eefl.freeforums.net/post/59577If that's not your thing, or you want to build your own, there's some good existing conversion ideas out there: www.pinterest.nz/pin/671880838150436605/ (Stardrake + Bloodthirster) www.lustria-online.com/threads/the-random-thread-of-random-randomness.22570/page-509#post-402008 (Carnosaur + Bloodthirster) -- there's more photos on the next page. The Magmadroth would likely work as well for the back half. For torsos, the Ghorgon/Cygor kit could do the job, though it has a bit of a belly to it. Otherwise, the new Be'lakor or not yet separately released Daemon Prince could work. But I think the Bloodthirster torst is probably best, which is why others have used it. I don't think a regular Giant would work - it's got too much of a beer belly.

If you have access to a printer there are some nice ones around, including rips from the games In terms of size I think an absolute minimum of a 75x50 I would probably be looking at something 100+ x 100+ FYI baaderthegreat that model is available for free on cults
