Hello fellow wargamers,
I am attending a tournament running the triple crown comp which is a new comp system to myself but it looks really good and alot more tournaments seem to be running it, seems alot simpler than swedish etc.
Looking to take a bit of a fun but hopefully still relatively competitive army. Some input could be appreciated around magic items or other potential avenues the list could take to further optimise. I will put my general ideas next to the units their intended purpose/functionality.
The triple crown stipulations for high elves and generic are posted underneath the army list.
+ Lords +
Anointed of Asuryan [520pts]: Flamespyre Phoenix
. Magic Items: AB - Khaine's Ring of Fury, AB - Star Lance, BRB - Dawnstone, BRB - Enchanted Shield
The plan with this lord is hopefully a big fun point denial unit, if he dies he has a pretty good chance to come back and be a constant nuisance. He flies around and threatens the backline, aiming to fly over units and taking the most efficient fights. Outfit with the ring of fury to provide an extra +1 to the ward save of himself and the phoenix, with natively a 2+RR/4++, Mr2 he should be pretty survivable. Starlance for the big charges - unsure if ogre blade better?
+ Heroes +
Mage [135pts]: High Magic, Wizard Level 2
. Elven Steed
. Magic Items: BRB - Ironcurse Icon
Goes with the silverhelm bus to provide 6+ ward vs warmachines which gets boosted with high magic.
Mage [130pts]: High Magic, Wizard Level 2
. Elven Steed
Goes with the silverhelm bus, double high magic should give me high chances to get spells I want. Unsure if going for a different lore for the secondary caster might be better? Shadow? Light? Beast?
Noble [174pts]: Dragon Armour, Shield, Spear
. Battle Standard Bearer: AB - Banner of the World Dragon
. Ithilmar Barded Elven Steed
Goes in the Silverhelm bus to provide that lovely magical protection, it is on the BSB to get a better comp score for the tourney. Pretty standard as he can get.
Noble [147pts]: Dragon Armour, Shield
. Ithilmar Barded Elven Steed
. Magic Items: AB - Golden Crown of Atrazar, BRB - Dragonhelm, BRB - Sword of Anti-Heroes
Fighty noble to join the unit Silverhelm bus, drawn out fights are definitely an issue with cavalry and also the list has an issue vs deathstars/characters i think. Having SOAH may help in this situation - unsure if better magic weapon? 1+ save with a 2+ ward on first wound should keep him around a bit.
+ Core +
Archers [230pts]: 21x Archer, Musician, Standard Bearer
Give +1 to the comp score and gives some extra shooting since more bolt throwers are penalised.
Silver Helms [398pts]: Champion, Musician, Standard Bearer
. 16x Silver Helm: 16x Shields
Pretty standard big bus, 5x4, characters in the second row. Fast and sturdy enough to play the mobility game and take fights on my terms.
+ Special +
Dragon Princes of Caledor [194pts]: 6x Dragon Prince
. Standard Bearer: BRB - Banner of Eternal Flame
Bringing a flaming unit into the list for regen, feel like a fast support element fits in this list. DP are pretty good vs other equal pointed chaff/flank units. Can provide support once they have gotten through chaff.
Shadow Warriors [70pts]: 5x Shadow Warrior
+1 to comp score and a handy warmachine hunter/bump stop.
Tiranoc Chariot [70pts]
+1 to comp score, decently cheap for impact hits. Can provide some support or bump stop.
+ Rare +
Eagle Claw Bolt Thrower [70pts]
Eagle Claw Bolt Thrower [70pts]
2 bolt throwers are the minimum we get away with without being penalised. Feel like these plus archers in core might be enough?
Frostheart Phoenix [240pts]
The big chilly bird, a staple in most elf lists. Amazing to combo charge and support the cav bus to help them win combats.
Great Eagle [50pts]: Great Eagle
The most handy unit in the game. Chaff, warmachine hunting, blocking, bumpstop.
++ Total: [2,498pts] ++
