Hi all. My friend has been having a difficult time playing against my army list. Thing is, these are the only models I have so a new army isn’t coming any time soon for him to play against. He plays ogres and needs some help coming up with an army that can counter mine. So here’s my list - post your counter to it. Can be as cheesy/beardy and cheap as you like.
Demon Prince - 565 Nurgle, chaos armour, fly Sword of might, charmed shield Flaming breath, scaled skin, familiar, soul feeder, nurgles rot
Chaos warriors x30 - 635 Nurgle, Full command, war banner, great weapons
Marauders x40 - 430 Nurgle, full command, flails
Marauder horsemen x12 - 270 Nurgle, full command, flails, light armour, javelins
Warhounds x5 - 30
Warhounds x5 - 30
Chariot - 125 Nurgle
Chariot - 125 Nurgle
Chimera - 290 All upgrades

You have no magic and no shooting. Just have him bunker (if scenario supports) and shoot/magic. If you run across with your 3 fast units great. Then it's basically his entire army vs your demon prince.
The ability to have two unopposed phases he should be fine.
Edit- just realized that your pts mean your dp is Lvl 4. Still two iron blasters mean your dp is in trouble with only a 5 ward.

That's a tough, hard hitting Chaos list so no wonder he's struggling.
No bsb though so Psychology could be a factor.
Is he taking Sabretusks or Mournfang?
He should be able to 'win' the deployment war.
The main Nurgle block is very hard to crack but his Ironguts will strike at same time so can do some real damage/potentially win combat.
I'd say some Man eaters (deployment shenanigans), sabre tusks (deployment win) and a bit unit of 4 mournfang with dragonhide banner as well as maybe another unit of 2 mournfang to swing combats. Ironblasters.
Yhetees are considered non-optimal but in this matchup with no shooting I'd take a unit of 3 with their swiftstride to hopefully counter and charge the 2 nurgle chariots.
What's his leadership like, ie is he running a Tyrant?

His standard units are: ironblaster, 4 mournfangs and ten ironguts with a slaughtermaster and BSB inside. Standard of discipline on the ironguts for the leadership bonus to his inspiring presence.
Rest of his army changed. Last game he ran a group of five sabertooths to clear my chaff and go after the horsemen, lol. Didn’t work out too bad tbf but don’t think he’ll do it again. He hates yhetees and won’t use them

I would suggest something like this:
Ironblaster Ironblaster 4-6 Leadbelchers 4-6 Leadbelchers 4 Mournfang with Dragonhide banner 1 Sabretusk 1 Sabretusk 1 Sabretusk 20-40 Gnoblars with Trappers
Finish the rest out with characters and ironguts. Leadbelchers should clear out the marauder cav and chariots, then start on the warriors, or marauders. The Ironblasters should work on the Prince and Chimera. Gnoblars should get up in the face of the Warrior block.
Your Marauder Cav are not Fast Cavalry, since you took Light Armour, so they lack a lot of their maneuverability and shouldnt be able to get away from the Leadbelchers easily. If the Ironblasters can take out the Prince and Chimera, they can then use grapeshot and start hosing the rest of the list.

Pretty sure the horsemen are fast cav unless I take both light Armor and shields right?
He’s got the models for all that except for the second ironblaster. What’s the dragon hide banner do? Don’t have my rule book with me here.

Don’t have my rule book with me here. Dragonhide banner lets the unit re-roll 1's to hit, wound, and armor saves, on the charge. And it has a one time breath weapon that makes the target Always Strike Last, for basically two combat phases. And Marauder Horsemen lose Fast Cav if they take Light Armour, its in the WoC Book... Is your friend new to the game? Because your list is honestly dog shit to play against. Maybe those are all the models you have, but you could also change the points you are playing at. Drop the nurgle marks, or drop the wizard levels on the Prince.

He’s been playing basically as long as I have. I didn’t make this army to be a pain - went with tons of core so I could build off it in the future and a DP and chimera because I’d never used them in past armies.
His big problem, which has been pointed out to him, is that he fixated on something if it works once. For example - his mournfangs. He used to use them to clear my warriors and it always worked well for him (used to run khorne warriors with double HW or Slaanesh with shields) so he constantly takes them into my warriors despite Nurgle with GW being a different kinda beast to deal with. I’m expecting him to try it again once or twice before he gives up on the idea and explores alternatives. I’m also notorious for having cannon ball resistance. His ironblaster blows itself up more often than a fanatic with a lit stick of dynamite.

I'd suggest to play scenarios as well, where it's possible to lose match ups and win the game, or even play narrative battles that encourages the use of different units. If you play blood and glory, he only has to kill the horsemen to win. If you play watchtower it's a race to claim it on the first turn as you have no suitable units (edit: I'd add 20 gnoblars with trappers and see how many nurgle guys die charging in to take the tower ). If you play battle for the pass he can deploy deep and shoot you down. Take a Lvl 2, and have one of the casters run beasts hoping for curse of anarahier, to disrupt your movement. Or lore of heavens as all spells are good in the match up. Second caster can carry either the hellheart or sveir's hex scroll. and make the DP worried about coming too close to use the short range spells of LoN or LoD. They can ditch the dispell scroll and instead take the Feedback scroll, the Trickster's Shard to help attack the DP or the forbidden rod on the Lore of Maw caster to dominate a magic phase and be able to heal back the damage. As from some of the posts above, deployment shenanigans with sabretusks, scouting maneaters, even gorgers to try and break up your advance.

Hey all, thanks for the feedback. I’ve passed the ideas along to my buddy. He came up with this list:
Slaughtermaster lvl 4 (fighter style with fencers blades) 2 lvl 1 firebellys (one with dispel scroll one with RRoR) 15 Ironguts with full command and standard of Discipline (all three characters here) 2 groups of four leadbelchers 4 mournfangs with iron fists and full command Ironblaster Thundertusk 2 groups of 20 gnoblats with trappers 1 Sabretusk
His idea is to turtle in a corner and shoot. Use the gnoblats as chaff and extra dmg from dangerous terrain, the mournfangs near the middle to ward flanks/counter charge and then ram the Ironguts into whatever gets close.
Not sure how it’ll work out for him but should be fun to run at ogres while they try to shoot my face off.

I’m late to the party but remember when i first restarted playing 8th and repeatedly faced a lvl 4 nurgle DP I thought it was one of the worst things I’d faced but a couple of cannons and some shooting to remove the charmed shield keeps it reasonably honest. Nurgle vs Ogres can be particularly galling as they have such innate terrible weaponskill so will often hit on 5’s, that said is he remembering to make you take fear tests? It’s easy to forget in 8th but warriors don’t have the best leadership so the odds are you are going to fail them a fair few times a game at least, which will help increase his hit rolls against you and reduce the damage back. I also like that you’ve kept the entire list nurgle themed, especially when the obvious choice is to give the marauder horse slannesh etc. Yes nurgle is easily the strongest mark but it’s for fluffy than mix and matching.
