Okay, I love my Ogres and warriors are one of the hardest matchups due to their high WS.Fear will help but we have a few other tricks.
Impact hits is our best one. Auto hits at S4+1 for each rank. And with Ogre charge can get D3 each. On a horde that's 6xD3 auto hits at strength 6 minimum. Wounding on 2s etc etc. And using fire bellies means you can strip any regen the Nurgle boys have pre combat.
So with that in mind we want to be wounding with anything we manage to hit. So it's guts all the way. Accept you're gonna lose a lot of models first and hit hard after. I find the best way of doing this is putting the dragon hide banner on them. On a turn you charge you re re roll any 1s in combat. Plus a breath weapon that ensures you strike at the same time next turn. So we have D3 impact hits each, wounds on 2s re rolling 1s. thats nasty before combat even begins.
Then when the warriors have had their go were hitting on 4s re rolling 1s and wounding on 2s re rolling 1s. Due to the firebelly mentioned earlier regen from festus if he's about isn't a thing.
Then of course we have another auto hit in our stomps. Which are again re rolling ones. Can't be parried by shields but are only S4........unless we use our next trick......
A lvl 4 slaughter master with Gruts Sickle and armour of destiny. This makes us a effectively a lvl6 on our first spell and providing were using MAW were a lvl 7 on any further spells due to lore attribute.
This makes it so easy to get off +1S and +1T spells with minimal dice. Yes dispel scroll but we'll get that out early like this.
So now your slamming into combat At S5 T5 making our stomps savage and any armour non existent on the enemies.
We cover ourselves by having the Bruiser BSB take the Rune Maw to deflect any spells we don't enjoy on a 2+.
Kit him with HA and power fist. We can't really ever tangle with the likes of a chaos lord or character so don't waste points trying.
So now we have three characters ironed out if you have the points put on a lvl 1/2 MAW to make sure we have all the tricks of our trade. Plus we need caddies for scroll and the hell heart.
Now we have one mad unit that isn't looking to make friends. Wouldn't it be nice if we got it into what we want and not Endless war hounds.....enter the saber tusks.
Don't leave home without at least two, three is my fave. Babysit your main unit. Redirect anything you don't want to fight and scare off chaff. They are pretty tasty too. Especially if you can get +1 S/T. 2A S4 T4 2 wounds and fear.
Two ironblasters are a given to deal with big nasties and after that any krushers or warriors out of combat.
Now any points left over you can get creative. But don't give away points. Mournefang just don't cut the mustard against krushers. They lose more often than not. So I don't bother. Or if I do I run them in twos and chase off chaff etc.
Maneaters are a shout. Play around with different load outs but my faves are - scout, sniper, brace of ogre pistols.
Vanguard, poison, brace of pistols - banner of E flame.
These are your take out characters and take down monsters units.
Scout, swiftstride, banner of swiftness front rank extra hand weapon back ranks Greats weapons.
This is your get into whatever you want and mince it up unit.
Experiment with other lores, all are great really. Heavens can work really well. Commet and chain lightning. It can make us harder to hit as well which helps.
Beasts is great when we're a level 6 thanks to Gruts. Wyssons is a fantastic sig spell adj well as all the other lovely things that brings. We can even end up with a chimera of our own!
I prefer the MAW. Stubborn is great for us and gives us staying power. 2d6 S2 hits no armour saves (for artillery and heavily armoured characters/units) trollguts is great for making sure we got get shot to death my the time were in combat. And the MAW isn't a terrible template spell.
I think 50% leadbelchers at high points is awesome and just lay into the main unit.
Overall I'd say Ogres are more than a match for warriors. And eventually I'd wager they come out on top more often than not.
Hope this helps.....
