Listening to the latest TC Loose Warhammer episode and the guest posed the question: If you could only keep one army, which would it be and why.
Being me I don’t think I could choose just one but I’d probably be able to pick one if we subdivided it. For example:
Lore: This would be dwarves, I love their history and setting. Model range: Wood Elves. No question on this, there is something about the models all the way from 3rd to 8th. Playability: Probably the Beastmen. They are such good fun to play and making up little bits of narrative for Khazbar has meant that even losing just adds to the story.
What about anyone else?

Orcs and Goblins all the way...
But that may be a little too one dimensional, so in discounting them
for lore: dwarfs. Keep clinging to those old feuds!
Game play: high elves as they compete in every phase and I love the MSU options they can do
Miniatures: Bretonnians. Quest knights, grail relic and the sheer beauty of a full cav army.

What an interesting question... If I had to choose one army to keep, I keep on leaning toward my Dwarfs, as they were my first army and I have the most fond memories of playing with them. However I'm also torn between my Greenskins, who I believe I've spent by far the most money building up, and my Beastmen, which are still a particularly fledgling force and probably the one I've been the most creative with so far. No offence of course to my Lizardmen, High Elf and Skaven forces, I love you all really

Interesting.. I kinda like Da Stunties lore too as well as the Wood Panzees´ models.
But Orcs & goblins for sure. They are just too fun, fluff-wise and i love Brian Nelson´s stuff.. So much that I curretnly only have O&Gs and even though I might get some Stunties and Wood Panzees, again, it will never happen at the cost of my orcs (& Goblins - weedy gitz!).

That is a hard one, if I had to choose 1 probably Skaven because they were one of my first armies and I love the range and lore to them.
Being kinder and giving me 3 categories: Lore: The methed out rat supremacists. Model Range: Lizard men Play ability: Probably High Elves or Dark Elves.

Somebody better be paying up to cover what I've sunk into my other armies if they're being taken away... I think I'd wind up sticking to DE, if for no other reason than because I've got about three times as many of them as the next biggest army.

Dark Elves; my first, my favourite (lore, models, playstyle), and fully painted.
But whoever tries to take my models off me needs to be prepared to fight for them. See how you feel about confiscating my Woodies with a Treeman jammed down your throat!

My answers to this are predictably chaos warriors, chaos warriors, chaos warriors. And if I ignored them, Beastmen, Beastmen, Beastmen.
The question is really which chaos warrior army would I save?
My Nurgle army is the biggest but I’ve been painting Undivided and Khorne recently. Khorne probably takes it by a nose. Of the units I still have to paint for the three armies, I’m most excited to do the Khorne stuff.

The question is really which chaos warrior army would I save? Have them fight it out until there is only one survivor! You could even call it "the great game".

TileaG you’re actually planning to do this with your 4 legions aren’t you? I suspect math hammer says Nurgle is odds on to win the great chaos-off.

Are you asking which army would one personally collect and play with; or which army would they want to keep while eliminating all other ones from the lore?

I'll cheat and keep my Chaos army. Chaos Warriors, Beastmen and Daemons used to all be unified in one army. I still think of them as sub-factions of the same army.
Gun to my head if I had to choose one faction from 8th edition time, I'd choose Empire. They are probably the most diverse. Core units with access to all the major weapon options (swordsmen, halberdiers, spearmen, additional hand weapons, bows, crossbows, handguns). Also core heavy knights. Tons of artillery options. Wizards who can choose from any of the eight schools of magic. Cool fluff. Bright fun to paint uniforms. What more could you want?

Empire - because it is the only army I have.

My Bret army would be tough to part with based on the time commitment both in painting and patience in buying models and bits. My orc and goblin army by itself could probably field 3 different armies so I might keep that. Nah this is too hard, I'd keep my order of chaos/destruction army, part with my neutral and order armies
