So in the summer I am going back home and will have a big games meet up with some mates. I want to bring back a renovated High Elf expedition. We are going to throw down 5000pts a side, brave Nordlanders and glorious Sapherian Elves against the vile Druchii Raiders and the filthy Beastmen of Laurelorn.
Each player will get 2500pts each. how the winds and magic will work I am as yet unsure. I think we will pair up and generate individual pools or roll once and double it.
That aside, I have a lot of painting ahead of me and I want to outline a target list to take so I can organise my painting and but what might be missing from my forces. I have played a little eighth, but have much more experience in seventh.
All comments and criticisms welcome! As far as I know my Delven mate loves to run witches, warlocks and large blocks of doom, whereas my beasty mate likes to run gors/bestigors and minotaurs in a variety of unit sizes. Noone is too spammy, but like all good Asur I don't trust the Druchii one bit.
Here are some lists that I have been considering:
2500pts Sapherian High Elf Expedition List 1
Lords
Archmage, Level 4, Book of Hoeth, Talisman of Preservation
Prince, Barded Elven Steed, Heavy Armour, Enchanted Shield, Star Lance, Dawnstone
Heroes
Noble, BSB, Armour of Caledor, Great Weapon
Core
Archers (15), Musician
Sapherian Sea Guard (19), Full Command, Shields
Ellyrian Reavers (5), Musician, Bows and Spears
Ellyrian Reavers (5), Musician, Bows and Spears
Special
Dragon Princes (9), Full Command, Banner of the World Dragon
Phoenix Guard (24), Full Command, Banner of Discipline
Rare
Frostheart Phoenix
Sisters of Averlorn (10), High Sister
Great Eagle
Total 2501pts
I'm over by one point! I don't have the Great Eagle to add to this list, so am slightly tempted to drop it for maybe a razor standard on the PG and a potion on the Prince (and make him the general). The prince was originally rocking the other trickster's shard, but I thought it was safer to protect his unit with the banner. Mage is running High most likely, though could swap with the BSB and rock a different law like Life.
List 2
Lords
Loremaster, Book of Hoeth, Talisman of Preservation
Heroes
Noble, BSB, Armour of Caledor, Gret Weapon
Mage, Level 2 High Magic, Dispel Scroll, Khaine's Ring of Fury
Handmaiden, Reaver Bow, Potion of Strength
Core
Sea Guard (19), Full Command, Shields
Sea Guard (20), Full Command, Shields
Archers (15), Musician
Special
Swordsmasters (17), Full Command, Banner of the World Dragon
Phoenix Guard (19), Full Command
Rare
Bolt Thrower
Bolt Thrower
Great Eagle
Great Eagle
Sisters of Averlorn (9), High Sister
Points: 2499pts
A much more defensive affair, but also a bit more fluffy a load of marines and swordsmaster disembarking supported by archers and eagles.
So from face value what do you think? Decent enough for a friendly game? Any recommendations on lores/equipment/unit sizes? Any help appreciated.
Thanks for reading!
