Hello, I was one of those oldhammers playing during the 6th edition and just come back when the Old world has been destroyed. Still it doesn't stop me to love the game and the old fluff as I used to, especially with the great 8th Edition. It actually makes my solo-play much more fun due to its insanely powerful magic (I said solo because sadly I am the only Warhammer Fantasy resident in my current country). Here is my first Video Battle Report and hopefully I can finish the whole campaign featuring my three favorite armies, Dogs of War, High Elves and Empire. www.youtube.com/watch?v=jJ4gJ1zg4eMAgain, I thank you guys for keeping the last flicker of the Old World alive.

I just play with one other fellow so you just need to indoctrinate one of your friends. Some here play with brothers or kids. I picked a guy who then moved to the other end of the country. Luckily Belgium is a very small country :-)

Nah, you have no idea, sir. In Viet Nam, there is zero 'infrastructure' for tabletop wargaming, much less for Warhammer Fantasy. No shop, no club, and while there is a modeler community, they strictly go after modern warfare and paint only for show. The idea that somebody can put those tanks on a table and dice them out is as radical as people landing on the Sun! I would love to kickstart a local wargaming community here but to introduce the most complex system in the universe, the 8th edition WF, to the Vietnamese newbies right on is like hitting your 2 year toddlers with Special Relativity lessons. It's a gross heresy but the way to go locally is either Age of Sigmar or Dragon Rampant. In the meantime, I would love to help keeping the Old World alive by doing some video Battle reports here. Just look at those mass ranks again make my heart swell

Hi Mahbruck! Dragon Rampant looks pretty good though, doesn't it? If you play with Warhammery models in an Old World setting/scenario, it could look pretty much like the photos in GW's publications from 4th/5th ed... Something like this, I mean:

Yes, I think Dragon Rampant is a fabulous system to introduce new folks into tabletop wargaming. Rules are fun and simpler than both AoS and Mordheim, yet unlike the latter you can still utilise a decent amount of models if you have a good collection. This is the system I have in mind for the local fantasy indoctrination. The only tiny downside is that it lacks the killer brand of GW and in Viet Nam, brands mean everything even for such a niche hobby as model shoving 😔

HÃ Ná»™i, m'lord. If you guys ever come here, drop me a message and we can easily fight a great game of 8th edition. Battle mats, terrains, dices, rulebooks are all ready, while hiring a big table space from a cafe is easier than ever. I also have 4000 pts of High Elves and 4000 pts Dogs of war (mostly human range so it can be switched instantly into Empire). Regards.

I'm actually visiting Vietnam in July for a couple of weeks for a friend's wedding but won't be in your area so I won't be able to battle unfortunately. If I was close by I'd join you for an eefl game hehe. Side note... Dogs of war are always awesome. That's actually one of favourite army books, I love the little stories in there. I have a small force of Dogs of War myself and still occasionally browse eBay in the hope of snaring another of the famous 'Regiments of Renown'.

Well now, at least you know that in the least likely place in the world, you can still meet and fight battle with one of the 8E fanatics! Yes, Dogs of War in my opinion, was one of GW's greatest ranges of metal models and one of the funniest books (rules are still horrible though). Despite the fact that it has been one of the neglected and little played armies, people still sell their kidneys to get a hand at a Regiment of Renown on Ebay. I myself regularly make some prolonged bidding wars to get the ones I don't have in the collection and my most recent acquisition was 32 Ricco's Republican Guards at $140 from Australia (That's normally the prize for 12 lads these days!) Owing every Regiment of Renown (at least the human side) is one of my primary aims concerning the extravagant Warhammer hobby I'm happily addicted with.

Hahaha. Oh wow. Do you only buy new in box Dogs of War? I use custom rules for my pikemen. While I don't have the Vendetta I use Vesperro as a custom 175 point character. I love that model. You should definitely start a log in the painting section of this website and post some of your Dogs of War. It's such a characterful range.
