Nah, it was a hard DoW army. Also, plucking berries is great for the underdeveloped triceps of the dainty Asurs

The heroes of the match: The trusty Tilean Pikemen The villain of the match, the very dude who was supposed to defend Trantio as his city, Marco Colombo Wow. I don't know which I like more, the unit or the character. Great miniatures with an AMAZING paint job. +1 yourself!!!

Yep, that was one of the craziest battles I played in the last two years. It definitely merits a video report but for the fact that there were more than enough fun-spoiling proxies and unpainted models for the cognoscenti 😔

Your mercs are beautiful.
Shame I'll (probably) never get to Vietnam, I'd love to see them in person. and play a game against them

Is that Teclis with the tall-ass hat? Just creeping in the back rank of a unit of armored crossbowmen?
Also, what did you use for string (bowstrings?) on said crossbows?

Also, what did you use for string (bowstrings?) on said crossbows? Just a normal thread, though of tougher fiber (not at dental floss level yet ). String it correctly at the nut and you have the most realistic and scenic looking crossbow (nay, missile) unit GW have ever produced. I can't wait to finish pimping these old boys. Is that Teclis with the tall-ass hat? Just creeping in the back rank of a unit of armored crossbowmen? Yep, that's my favorite Warhammer dude and he is finally reunited with his brother after 13 years. Also of the same batch, Althandin is going to meet his sire for the first time.

Thanks for the inspiration! Now I'm gonna have to try stringing the bows of my own missile troops. It makes them look very good!

Great unit of pikemen there. Love the banners and pennants. If you can be bothered to do a step-by-step on your painting methods I'd be very interested!

Great unit of pikemen there. Love the banners and pennants. If you can be bothered to do a step-by-step on your painting methods I'd be very interested! Thanks, but I have to confess I'm just one of those amateurish mediocre painters out there. I don't have many fancy techniques, just the normal ones I learnt from Citadel old books and online tutorials out there. I do have the advantages of a pair of very steady hands (I do lots of lifting to support my sport) and a borderline fascistic attitude toward clean-painting . Of all rank and file models, I mostly obey the rules of three layers. For example, the armor of the pikemen have a first layer of Leedbelcher, then Ironbreaker, followed with a wash of Nuln Oil, then Ironbreaker on the raised area with Runefang steel at the very edge. The same applies with Red, Yellow and blue-green colors. Of special Characters, I may add some glazes and drybrush here and there but the simple thing is that I can only do the basics well, that's all. As long as you have time and patience, the more layers you add 'cleanly', the more striking your fantasy models will be (realistic models may require different treatment though). This unit of Phoenix Guards, having taken me about 7 months to paint (including two months I totally laid off the brush out of my utter disgust for the chore ), is probably my best creation and a fine example of the basic rule of Three.
