Hello,
I'm up against Skaven in the near future. It's 2500 points and no level 3 or 4 allowed. Also no double Phoenixes or double Abominations, no dispel scroll and max 10% archers. What do you guys think about this ?
LORDS Loremaster of Hoeth (Book of Hoeth, Shield of merwyrm, Sword of might) --> Joins Spear Elves Prince (Shield, Heavy Armour, Dragon Helm, barded steed, Ogre blade, Tal of Pres) --> Joins Dragon princes
HEROES Noble (Talisman of 5+, Biting blade, barded steed, Charmed shield, BSB, Dragon armour) --> Dragon princes
CORE 10 Archers (Musician) 11 Archers (Musician) 5 Ellyrian Reavers (Musician) 34 Spearmen (BS, Musician, Standard of Discipline)
SPECIAL 13 Dragon Princes of Caledor (FC, BOTW) 24 Phoenix Guard (Musician, BS, Banner of flame) RARE 2 Eagle Claw Bolt Thrower 2 Great Eagle
I was thinking about the reavers and an eagle on the left, archers and RBT in the middle and all the rest on the right flank. Any tactical advice?

Loremaster with the book is 'almost' better than a downright lv 4 mage, I think. So you actually cheat here 🤓 I love the look of a Dragon Prince horde but I'm not keen on the fact that they lose 10 attacks for those two back ranks. If i go full on efficiency, I take a same number of silver Helms and the spare points go to another Reaver. The BSB though has to carry BoTWD banner though. Too much dilemma that why I devise a Wedge formation at home for my High Elves: on a Wedge movement tray, every model in the unit can hit with many supporting attacks they have on their 'current' profile, rank bonus is added at every multiplier of 5. This is a upgrade for a Dragon prince unit at the cost of 70 pts.
Also, take the Sword of Anti-Hero in stead of Sword of Might. You still have 10 point allotment left for the LM.

Thanks for the feedback. The sword of anti-heroes disappointed me in the last game because he had too few characters to attack. I might still do it though.
Can you give me more information about the wedge thingy?

What's great about Sword of anti-hero is that it matters when it needs to matter. You love it if you ever fight a Regiment of renown list. Once my High Elf prince had 14 attacks at Str 14 (not sure it can go higher than 10) when his unit got charged by Republican guards with Merc Gen on the front, Desert Dogs and Amazons on each flank 😂. Seriously, i still think SoAH is the best magic weapon in terms of cost effective.
The Wedge thingy? Just like I said, all support attacks allowed, rank bonus for each multiplier of 5 models in the unit after the first 5, so 20 Dragon princes in Wedge add 3+ RB at the additional cost of 70 pts. The line of sight is base on the model at the center of the unit, not at the corner of the formation like in the Rule book, but the degrees of view are the same. Very overpowering I may say but it makes the Princes to be able to contest with my pikemen.

I'm not sure, but at level 2 wiz can he still take the dreaded 13th spell? If so try taking silver helms instead of the Spearmen.
I know the spearmen wouldn't be a main target, but man it sucks when you get your phoenix guard all turned into rats lol. I played a game where my opponent got off that dreaded 13th spell 3 times one game, turning both my phoenix guard and sword masters and spearmen into rats. I swear to you I played another game with that mofo and I brought cavalry, chariots, and a phoenix only.
Yeah how awesome is your little dreaded 13th spell? Not!
Lmao

He can pay for a grey seer, use it as a level 2 and blow it up while trying that spell. Normal lvl 2's can't use it

Wait, what?? And his Grey Seer survived? Mine always blows up when I try that spell.

Like the list. The use of the Loremaster in a game with no lvl 4s could prove huge! Always like Dragon Princes and Phoenix Guard. Not much else to add - I don't ave too much experience against Skaven TBH.

Skaven have the potential to hurt the HE, with Slave blocks and lots of shooting, a Headtaker extra strong Stormvermin horde, some toys,...
This list almost negates all shooting since it is magic shooting (so 2+ for princes, 4+ for Phoenix and a possible 5+/T4 spearmen unit). I can block his skitterleap (teleport) spell. The stormvermin horde will hurt but the princes and a flank charge should do the trick. The slave hordes might pose a problem since they explode when they die. I could multicharge them so that there are not a lot left alive to explode. That would compromise my position play. At the momen, I'm thinking about flying an eagle into the flank of the slaves, or my reapers. That should block half of his army. If he takes clanrats instead of slaves, I can just kill them.

The enemy He had - 2 x 50 slaves - 2 x 30 clanrats with weapon teams - 2 x 10 gutter runners - Plague censor bearers - Plague monks - lvl 2 Ruin, lvl 1 Ruin, lvl 2 Plague - 2 x 3 jezzails - 2 x Warp Lightning Cannon
Start He actually had less drops than me and I got to put my Dragon princes away from the jezzails. Lots of scenery and I got to put many units behind buildings. So far everything is coming up Millhouse. The first two turns were wonderful, I shot his weapon teams, harassed his WLC, his gutter runners were not carrying poison so couldn't hurt a fly with their throwing stars.
Middle His gutter runners charged my archers and then my RBT's. I thought the archers could handle them but that was a mistake. He skitterleaped some engineers but they did very little. My princes destroyed a skavenslave unit and a WLC but were attacked by both the monks and some clanrats with a Warlord with Skavenbrew. He also sniped my Loremaster with his other WLC
End The Warlord had a magic weapon, no problem. He challenged my unit, which led to the entire clanrat unit not being able to attack. I killed 12 monks per turn and never had to take a break test. I killed his censor bearers with my spearmen, my Phoenix guard shook off the cannonbals like they were mothballs and destroyed the gutter runners.
I ended up with 1200pts left on the table and he had 600 pts. After not winning 7 times in a row, I finally won again! Long live the High Elves, LONG LIVE ULTHUAN!

Congrats. Happy for a fellow Asur, especially against the blatantly smelly rats

I had some luck with the Dragon Princes and need more swift units to take down the WLC's. Ah well, it was a fun game.
(I will be the general of these smelly rats in the next game BTW :-) )
