Nice! Thanks for showing the difference between the options! That's a good representation.
The units are looking great as well! Have you thought about trying to make grey or black furred rats? I notice that they are all brown. Maybe for a different class of rat? Like all Stormvermin are black furred? Plague rats - grey? Lol, just throwing ideas your way.
My armies: Empire, Dwarfs, High Elves, Wood Elves, Dark Elves, Lizardmen, Skaven, Tomb Kings, Ogre Kingdoms, Orcs and Goblins, and Skitarii (40K).
I do intend to do something different with the stormvermin, definitely want to do much darker with the fur.
Right now I'm just trying to burn through the slaves and clanrats as fast as I can. That means assembly line tactics with as few colors as possible. They all end up looking similar but that's the trade off with hordes.
I may do a batch differently to throw in some variation to the rest of the horde. I like the idea of the vast majority of them being the same.
And I do plan to do white fur on the grey seer. I might try my hand at an albino rat single model somewhere in the army but I don't know. Isn't that the province of the grey seers? My skaven lore is a bit rusty but don't they take the white rats away because they have the "gift" of magic? Or is that something that happens to them as a result of having magic? I don't remember.
Plague monks are in the planned 2500 expansion, as well as a plague furnace or a screaming bell, so that promises to be fun. I'm thinking a green ink (instead of black like now) with a lighter brown/grey color will convey the skin tone well enough for them. Then I like the idea of grey robes instead of green on the monks. Maybe a faint greenish grey (mix a little green in with my chosen grey color perhaps?)
Lots to think about but that's a way out as I still have Dark Elves, then Empire, then Lizardmen, then Ogre Kingdoms to get 2000 point painted armies finished. That's if I also don't acquire any new armies in that time.
Just instead of black fur I would do white fur. I like the black horns though it looks...menacing.
Sorry it's a little confusing; the albino rat would be something entirely separate from the grey seer. I like the skin variation on the model. The albino would be a single RnF model stuck/lost in the masses
I have to admit, that was a REALLY nice kit and almost got me to start collecting Skaven! It was super-fun to paint! If I didn't already have 8 HUGE armies and a small fortune in unassembled/unpainted minis, then they'd be a strong possibility for me to collect.

I have two screaming bells and a plague furnace (new plastics) but sadly I've been deprived of the pleasure of putting them together as they were all already assembled when I bought them from my friend.
They're beautiful models though, definitely some of the best out there and definitely my favorite of the skaven range.
The grey seer isn't mine, I have a few of the old metal models that I intend to use for mine. I enjoy the character and the cartoony look of some of those old models. The one I pictured was found with a quick internet search so credit where credit is due.
It's been over a month since I've worked on the army so I figure it's about time to start working on these guys again. Here's what I've been doing the last couple days:
I've got my first block color almost done on the clanrats, I then decided to take a break and work on my next project, the hellpit abomination. I acquired him from a friend and he was a mess (seriously, who doesn't AT LEAST file down the nubs where the model was clipped from the sprue?) so I worked on cleaning him up. I figure I'd turn about half of the really bad mould lines into scars/scar tissue while filing/scraping away the other half.
Yay! I'm glad to see that you put down the controller! Exciting stuff! Looking forward to seeing what you do with your Abomb!
haha my wife is glad too!
She hates it when I play video games she would much rather I paint and hobby.
I don't think I'll get too creative with the paintjob, but I'm definitely going to do a GOOD job as this is a centerpiece model.
I'm not talking like 7 highlights crazy though, at the end of the day I still have over 100 models to go for this army. I might try zenithal highlights and play around with the airbrush a bit. I don't know yet.
