I'm excited and thought I'd share!
I managed to score a Lizardmen and a Dwarf army today! And they're both painted to boot! (Dwarf army has some unpainted models though)
Traded away around 8k points worth of painted Eldar to get them.

That's awesome! I really LOVE my Lizardmen! That's just a fun army to play.

Yeah I'm looking forward to those hordes of Saurus's (Sauri?)
Those are some of my favorite models GW makes. Also DINOSAURS!

(Lizardmen + Dwarfs > Eldar) = Awesome Not sure sure that my math is syntactically correct, but you get the idea Cool score.

You don't see them all that often, but Carnosaurs are great fun. They literally live up to their name, making a muck of everything. Plus, they're surprisingly fast! Back them up with some Cold ones and a hero, they'll do massive amounts of damage!
I really like Lizardmen army rules too!
Oh- and FYI, if you are playing a horde army (like Skaven), try taking a Bastiladon with the Arc and about two Jungle Swarms next to your big block of Saurus Warriors. You'll be dishing out poisoned attacks while adding to your forces! Plus, the snakes can be a nice way to tie up those pesky Slaves and eventually outnumber them! And the Bastiladon is great for protecting your flanks!

Yeah, I also sold off my 40k stuff a while back (not that I owned a ton). I just felt like it would make more sense for me to focus on one game system since I don't actually get to play all that often. Just figured what is the point of splitting my time between two systems when I don't even play my preferred one as often as I would like.

Thanks for all the kind words everyone.
I've also managed to swing a small empire army last week as well. It's around 20 swordsman, 20 spears, 20 handgunners, 2 cannons, 2 mortars, 1 rocket launcher, some wizards, 5 pistoliers, 6ish knights and 10 crossbows. Traded away my Star Wars Armada for it.
It's Ebay level quality though, a lot of work will need to go into these guys to get them ready for the table.
A friend of mine is excited though, he has some campaign book that is Empire vs. Vampire Counts and he wants to play it.
Lizards and Dwarfs should be here this week!

20 Handgunners? I'm sorry.
Lol, just kidding. But seriously, they'll need some serious filling out. Maybe good for some small games, but that's it right now. Good start though!

yeah I actually wasn't planning to play any games with them until I've had a chance to flush them out a bit. There were no bits for them either so I'll need to buy some boxes of newer minis anyway so I can start to build up a bitz box for the empire. I've been looking at Perry minis and warlord games to help here too.
What's a good way to field handgunners? Not MSU in 10's?

What's a good way to field handgunners? Not MSU in 10's? Once upon a time, I fielded Dwarf Hand Gunners in a unit 25 wide x 3 deep. Stand & Shoot Buckos! 50ish S4 armor piercing shots was pretty cool. Go ahead... I dare you. And even then, they ain't no slouches in combat. T4? Ld9? I had 2 cannons as well, so it all felt very much like a Gettysburg, just with shorter legs and slightly longer beards. All that said, for me: Coolness > Winning --I think 10 to 20 is the "accepted" right size. Boring

But those are dwarfs! We're talking about squishy humans here. I never expect much from shooting troops, (especially bs3 ones) I've never been too impressed with them so I only take enough for me to deal with things like dogs and fast cavalry. after that they're expendable.
I personally don't see myself fielding bigger units than say...14.

I actually enjoyed taking the Lothern Sea Guard when I had high elves. A spear unit that could also fire their bows is awesome, even if they're considered "sub-par". And the new plastics are nice to boot.

Hey, I'm right with you on the Sea Guard thing. If I'm going to take a spear unit, then those are the guys I want. (Unless I go cheese and take the 60-elf horde) I only take Archers if I need a caster bunker and that's usually not very many.
As for the Handgunners, I will usually take around a unit of 16. They usually act as a last line of defence for things I'm trying to protect. In that number, they can spread out nicely, and also have the number to potentially do some harm to enemy attackers. I actually have 36, but that's because I got them from lot purchases, starter boxes, etc. They actually start to have a devastating effect when taken in that number, but that solely depends on what you're shooting at. The best role I've used them for though is as a detachment. I know a lot of people argue against this, but it's actually been rather effective for me. Set them to the side of say, a Greatsword unit, let them take the charge and IF beaten and run down, have a Wizard Chariot or War Altar sitting right behind them to stop the enemies advance and then hit their (now exposed) flank. Otherwise they lay down cover fire. It's really just a different way of utilizing a redirector. People usually don't like the detachments because "A smart player will just charge the detachment". But that's only if the Empire player is a novice and leaves them all by themselves with no support. Go figure.
