I love that model, probably my favourite HE character. What’s the sword from?

I love that model, probably my favourite HE character. What’s the sword from? Lol, I originally bought him to be a "statue" on top of a column as a piece of terrain YEARS ago. Something happened to the column (someone dropped it or something) and his sword arm wound up breaking off and getting lost. He sat in my bits box for years. I pulled him out and painted him up after adding a sword arm from the VC Zombie Dragon kit. It worked well since I wanted an impressive sword for the Prince, and it also attached at the elbow. I think it works well, but given that the blade has already been broken in the middle (this guy has the worst luck with being dropped) I think that it has a very short shelf life, unfortunately. Hopefully I'm wrong.

cool hero. bummer with the sword. it will cause grief eventually. you could 1) put the model in a display cabinet and never touch it again or 2) have it break at some point (hopefully while somebody touches it so at least you get to do the evil glare) and then replace the entire weapon/hand with something else. You picked a good one as the first replacement...in fact so good I initially thought this was a new model that had slipped under my radar. so, you will find some other suitable bit.

Lol, well, y'all are making me feel better about the sword-arm choice! I'm pretty sure that I'll be able to find another one if this one breaks again.

Bringing these Silver Helms out for another try. I've never really been too motivated to work on them, since I've never really seen them do very well in most games, but they've been sitting in my "to do" cabinet for far too long. Time to bolster the High Elf core again.

Hopefully I'm wrong. I had the exact same problem with this sword. For me it broke when I unsprued it. Honestly this sword must be the thinnest and most ridiculously fragile sword GW ever produced. It broke in 3 pieces instantly, I couldn't do anything to prevent it. I replaced it by an old school Bretonnian sword, thick and solid. I am not really happy with the super fragile designs GW has been going with for a while already.

Okay! Been a while since I dug out my HE, but it's about time to hit them again. I've really loved the color scheme that GW has given the new AoS High Elves, so I'm going to start repainting my army in this new scheme. It's not terribly different from what I had before, but softer and more refined, which, to me, directly speaks to HE's as a race. So I'll be starting at the top with this horribly painted Tyrion, I did shortly after I really got into Warhammer. This was a finecast model, so some of the facial details were off, but I'll give it my best attempt anyway.

Yeah, I painted this one up years ago, right after the HE 8th book came out. Base coat and that was it. Lol. I like to think I do a bit better now!

Are you planning on stripping it entirely, or painting over what you've got?

It's Finecast. I'm not going to bother stripping it. I rarely do. Only in REALLY BAD caked-on paint jobs where someone didn't know what paint to use and lost all detail. Besides, my paint scheme won't be all that different.

I look forward to see your pointy side! How big is the army? 😁 Overall, it's 10K+. HE were the second army I really started collecting after Empire, and the first I really chose to collect. By that I mean, I first started collecting and building an Empire army because I had bought a 6th Ed starter set and just capitalized on that Empire starter. HE were the first army I actually sat down (once I was really familiar with the races) and said, "This army seems really cool to me. I want them." So, yeah, I've got a lot of milage on them and the army is large, point wise, but HE's are expensive troops already, so they don't appear as large as others once all laid out. I'll be revisiting them so you'll see a lot more of them real soon. Almost done with Tyrion.
