As a completely different kind of game from Warhammer, I think Age of Sigmar is interesting. The main issue I have with the game is that there is NO army structure or points values. Anyway, this video, below,is brilliant. It points out how games like Magic the Gathering do not have a points value system, yet it works well (I know it's a card game vs miniatures). He goes on to propose a deployment system that balances AOS. It works like this: players choose between 3-12 warscrolls which forms their army. There are a few other suggestions but I don't see that as so important. Here is the genius part: Before deployment, each player see all the units (warscrolls) their opponent has and then they roll off. The winner chooses to be player 1 or 2. Player 1 then deploys the first unit, and each player sets up one unit at a time like we are all familiar with. However after both players deploy 3 units, player one can choose to either deploy a 4th unit or stop. If play 1 choses to stop, player 2 deploys one more unit and then deployment is over. If player 1 deploys a unit, player 2 can now choose deploy a unit or stop. If player 2 stops, neither player deploys addition unit and deployment is finished. This is a really great idea for a number of reasons, but check out the video: Watch this video
