I don't even mind the AoS stuff so much either. I bought one of the Ophidian Archways and put it together, because I thought it'd make a nice piece of table top scenery even if I didn't use the rules they wrote for it. I just really don't care about collecting a Sigmarine army or Chaos. I hope they come out with some nice models for the current armies.

Economic Survival of the Fittest. GW was no longer the most alluring and competitive source in the market... Ergo they will be replaced. It just remains to be seen who fills the void - maybe Mantic/KoW... maybe someone else.
I feel, sincerely, GW priced themselves out the market. I think this is accurately called greed. No harm, no foul.
When I, as an adult with a full time job, look at GW stuff and can't justify the $200. And when I look into Old Glory and Bones and so on, I think they mussed up pretty good.
The sad part: my gut tells me that no 1 system will sweep into the Market to replace GW/WFB. We will get a splintered world going forward. And so it goes.

Nothing against the 9th crowd, they've worked hard, but they took people away from Warhammer Fantasy. It's like a huge war just ended and all of the countries are vying for control of the same territory. Except there are too many vyers and the residents of the country are just pissed off over the whole thing. There is a definite divide/splintering of the prior warhammer community which is unfortunate. With out official GW support though I don't think there is any way to stop this. I haven't read though any of the 9th age rules at this point but I have seen some people make the comment that if GW had released this rule set (ie a 9th edition of warhammer which was tweaks and modifications of 8th edition) people would have been happy with it and enjoyed playing 9th edition. Again, I haven't read the rules but I think the concept is right. I liked 6th edition warhammer but when 7th came out I played that and enjoyed it. I liked 7th edition warhammer but when 8th came out I played that and enjoyed it. If an official 9th edition would have come out I think it would have been the same case. I guess my point is that 9th age might be a good set of tweaks to 8th edition but without official support we will still get the splintering which I don't have any answer for...

I might be sounding like a heretic but I do think the overall game mechanics of AOS is interesting, it could never replace WFB for me, but I'm certainly willing to play where people are interested. It just I have no idea what a fair game is. I'm interested to see new models other than Stormcast Eternals and Khorne stuff. (Inner thoughts: yes, yes. Time to bring another one over to my dark master, GW. rubs hands together menacingly ) The Azyr system they're putting together is looking really good for a balanced game. www.dakkadakka.com/dakkaforum/posts/list/664850.page;jsessionid=323D5AC9806C940EAC1A107BD4FD934EEveryone's really wanting them to move on with the models as well. Mostly with the free people army, regular humans are a must for any wargame. I'm hoping they'll look like the Empire and Bretonnia but wouldn't mind a different aesthetic altogether. Of the human kingdoms toppled by chaos, the Lantic Empire sounded awesome as it was the last bastion to fall and only after Archaon stepped in. A worthy successor to the Empire in my view.
