I really don't like giving the Demis a standard bearer because of auto-death of a 3W model if they flee from combat. I might reconsider. Also, I don't have a standard bearer model for the demis at the moment, uhg.

No doubt, Lore of Metal is good! I was just throwing some ideas 'atcha. I've just used Harmonic Convergence to great effectiveness on my 1+ or even 2+ knights. Re-roll all failed 1's? Yes, please. Good luck getting through that.
I wouldn't take a Standard on the Demis either. They should do enough wounds on their own to win enough CR.

Playing with lists now -
A Level 4 on Foot with Lore of the Heavens seems to work well, as he can buff EITHER the Demis or the ICKs with a range of 24in on Harmonic Covergence. At a 6+ to cast? I can 1 dice this all day long.
I think that with the Ruby Ring, 2 Warriors Priests, and a Level 4 I am trying to make efficient use of all my dice and play some good tactics with daring my opponent to dispel.
Debating entering Cheeseville by dropping the General on Griffon and replacing him with the level 4 and a Witch Hunter. Yes, the Witch Hunter would have Ruby Ring. Killing Blow fireballs.
The General on Griffon was there to pick on weak non-character'd non-Horded units of infantry. Thunderstomp and Griffon attacks are so good against chumps. If I face Chaos Warriors (on foot) I'll miss this guy.

2400 Points, here's 2319. This is noodling on mottdon 's idea to make use of Harmonic Convergence. 1- Unit of 15 Knights. w. Steel Standard. 1 Grandmaster (155) + 14 ICKs (405). Grandmaster is general. 2- Unit of 4 DemiGryph Knights. Mus, Champ (252) 3- Unit of 45 Halberdiers. Captain BSB (85). Warrior Priest (65). 43 Halbs, Mus, Stnd. (278) 4- Unit of 25 Greatswords. Warrior Priest (65). 24 GSwords, Mus, Stnd. (284) 5- Witch Hunter on foot w. Ruby Ring (80) 6- Wizard Lord, Level 4 Heavens w. Dispel Scroll (225) 7- Engineer (65) 8- Helblaster (120) 9- Cannon (120) 10- Cannon (120) I'd love to fit in a few small units of Archers or Crossbowmen to protect the Witch Hunter and/or Level 4 Wizard. Those characters are meant to creep around, snipe, and avoid combat for the most part.

Looks good, but I'd definitely try fitting in a small unit of archers as a bunker for your wizard. He's way too vulnerable in your close combat blocks. The Archers can be really good at removing those pesky Charmed Shields on DPs before you hit them with a cannon ball. Also, a Heavens Wizard is meant to sit back and bomb from afar. Comet of Cass. and Harmonic Convergence are your go to spells for this lore, but the others are quite effective as well. Even Wind Blast has some really good uses, when utilized for board control. Put down a comet, then keep pushing your opponent back into it until it comes down! Priceless.
Something else I like to do is to take a Luminark and sit it behind my unit with the Witch Hunter in it. The Witch Hunter has MR(2), so combine that with the 6++ ward save the Luminark gives, then that unit gains a 4++ vs any magic missiles that might come your way as well as adding 1 to your dispel dice pool. And oh yeah, it has a "Lazer" cannon, giving your opponent one more spell to stop. While I don't really get the cannon to go off all that often, opponents who aren't really all that familiar with Empire get really, REALLY scared of it! They will usually hold on to a couple of DD just to stop that one spell! That's why I usually hold onto that one until last, just keep subtly "reminding" you opponent that you still have it. You can also easily 1-dice it. Plus, you get bonus if you face Undead anything. I think that it is one of the most underrated things that the Empire has to offer. If you're looking for something different to offer, I'd recommend it.
That being said, I really like your idea of taking a General on Griffon too. It adds in another deep-striking threat, that in combination with your ICKs and Demis, pose real problems for your opponents. Besides, he looks super cool IMO! If you're looking for points, I might actually drop the second cannon. Sure, they're really good for taking down the big baddies, but between the HBVG and one cannon, you should be able to get the job done.

Wilson, do you have/use a steam tank with your army? I wasn't sure if it fits your theme. But anyway, not to keep you rethinking your lists over and over but I think you could benefit from a steam tank. In the second list you could fit it in pretty easily by dropping one cannon and then either the witch hunter or a warrior priest. And the steam tank has a cannon so you would still have two.

Here is the army list I am thinking of. I decided an old school glory days dwarf list might be cool. So I tried for the following: - Fewer warriors and more longbeards than I usually take
- Dwarf lord is a must and ideally should have a near full allowance of magic items
- No blackpowder
- Lord on Shieldbearers, General, Shield, x2 Rune of Might (against T5 or higher enemies Lord doubles strength and does D3 wounds), x3 Rune of Warding (4+ ward) 293 Points
- Thane, BSB, Shield, Master Rune of Grungni (4+ ward for Thane and 5+ ward vs shooting/magic missiles to units within 6") 153 Points
- Runesmith, Shield, Rune of Stone (+1 armor), Rune of Spellbreaking (dispel scroll), Rune of the Furnace (2+ ward vs. flaming) 98 Points
- Runesmith, Shield, Rune of Stone, Rune of Spellbreaking 93 Points
- 41 Warriors, Great Weapons, Full Command 440 Points
- 27 Longbeards, Great Weapons, Full Command, Rune of Stoicism (Stubborn) 443 Points
- 30 Hammerers, Full Command 450 Points
- Grudge Thrower, Rune of Accuracy (re-roll scatter die), Rune of Forging (re-roll misfire) 130 Points
- Grudge Thrower, Rune of Accuracy, Rune of Forging, Rune of Burning (flaming) 135 Points
- Bolt Thrower, Rune of Accuracy (+1 to hit) 80 Points
- Bolt Thrower, Rune of Accuracy, Rune of Burning 85 Points
Total: 2,400 Points
Any comments are welcome. The biggest part I am unsure about is the build on the lord. I haven't used a lord on shieldbearers before. I have had the model for a while but never got around to assembling/painting it so I figured this would be a good opportunity. So if you have different ideas for the build I would be interested.

Wow, well done. The Khorne Warriors sign is perfect.
Remind me, what is that fire elemental in game terms, a spawn?

It looks like you have quite a defensive build and I'd recommend doing the same with your Lord. If I go for a Tank Lord, then I give him a GW (giving him S6), 2 Runes of Iron and one Rune of Fortitude (giving him +1W and +2T), Shieldbearers (+2 Wounds and 2+ armor save), and 3 Runes of Warding (giving him a 4++ ward save). That makes a Tanky Lord that has WS7, S6, T7, W6, Ld10, 2+ armor save, and a 4++ward save. He can really go toe to toe with most opponents. He has two "normal" attacks from the two shield bearers, but the GW is what really will do the damage for him. Your opponents will do everything they can to avoid him, so it'll be good to have him in a unit that is separate from your other hammer units (Hammerers). Even though he'd benefit from the Kingsguard special rule for the Hammerers, you'd probably WANT this guy in challenges, unless you are facing something like a horde of Night Goblins and don't want him being called out by a NG champion. In those cases, most Dwarf champs can handle the challenge, allowing you to direct all of your attacks on the unit. I'd probably stick this guy in with the Longbeards (first) and then the Warriors (second). That'll split your opponents attacking options and give them some difficult choices as to which one to charge or shoot at. Something else to consider is putting a Rune of Penetration on one of your Grudge Throwers instead of Accuracy. That way you'll have one that can be more reliable to hit and one that can do more damage, depending on your targets.

Awesome armies guys can't wait to see them in person.
I have emailed all the currently signed up players for Da Boyz to let them know I am dropping the price for 8th/AoS to $40 (dropping the previously included lunch and changing prize support ratio to make that happen) We've got enough people to run both singles events but not as many as I would like.
If you are an EEFL forum goer who was on the edge of making the event and was worried about the price tag we'd love to have you come.
With thanks
