Hello All - David from the UK ..... more precisely South West Been interested in gaming since back in '87 with games like Space Hulk, Dracula, Dungeon Quest which evolved into WFB & 40K. But WFB became my favourite and especially Dwarfs! I've been a member of Bugmans for a while. 8th is a great edition and long may it live!

Dennis from Alaska, here. Been playing Fantasy off and on since 2001, but really started loving it with 8th. They changed some things that made absolutely no sense to me in other editions. I mostly play Empire, but with Warriors of Chaos, Vampire Counts, Bretonnia, and Wood Elves (with some Dark Elves mixed in from the End Times lists). I have a crazy goal of painting 1000 Empire State Troops. Anyway, I hope that this place and the other forums will help keep a great game from disappearing.

Hi guys, The Real Rick Salamone here from upstate NY, USA. I've been playing warhammer since college (1997). I have lots of 40k stuff but haven't really played for the last 2 editions. Fantasy is my game and I have Khorne warriors, vampire counts, and my main army is Empire.
As fun as playing is, I am most interested in collecting and painting miniatures. When it comes down to it I see the games as more of an art show with a purpose. I still enjoy the mental challenge of battles but I don't enjoy the hardcore gaming culture. My most enjoyable games involve long-running campaigns with friends.
I have gone to some tournaments but my main goal is always painting awards. Most recently I've lost the taste for tournament weekends though.
I am looking forward to playing eight edition AS IS and I hope that we can maintain enough committed players to keep things going.
EEFL!

Hey, everyone! I followed Rick's link here from Warhammer-Empire. Good guy who makes awesome models! Anyway, my name is Donny and I hail from Birmingham, AL (now Starkville, MS).
I started my Warhammer career when a friend of mine in college bought a 40K starter set and wanted me to buy in with him. I obliged and bought a few random boxes of Space Marines. I had no idea what to do or collect (I didn't even have a book) but I obliged him. I went about painting them up and getting ready to play. After a couple of weeks I was done with my models and went to see if he was ready as well. Turns out, he quickly grew tired of having to put them together and sold them to a friend of his without thinking to tell me. Great. Now what? I started looking through the brochures in the boxes and really loved the look and idea of Fantasy. I never really liked aliens and laser pistols. So I made the jump to Fantasy and bought the 6th edition Starter Set and a few boxes of other units that I thought looked cool (Teutogen Guard, Savage Orcs, Valten, Exalted Valten, etc.). Soon after that, I graduated with a degree in Buisness Management, got a job that required a ton of traveling, then after working for a short time, went back to college for a second degree in Architecture. I was in school for another five years, spending all day, every day in studios, drafting, modeling, and working on some project. I lived and breathed the stuff. Then I graduated and it all...stopped. I NEEDED something to work on. That's when I rediscovered the Warhammer sets that I had bought all those years ago. I dug them out and started putting them together. My wife and I moved to Birmingham soon after that for jobs. We bought a house and turns out there was a local games store not even a mile from my house! I started looking at all of the new models, (8th had just come out) and talking with all of the people who were playing in the store. They encouraged me and played a few games with me, teaching me the rules.
I've been aggressively pursuing the hobby ever since. I love to play, but my main focus is collecting and painting. I would consider myself a casual player, getting in a game or two a month. I have 10 armies, most of which, are all over 6000 points (Ogre Kingdoms is my newest and smallest army thus far, only coming in at around 4000 points, but to be fair, I've only been collecting and painting them for around 4-5 months). Empire is my largest army with around 14,000 points in that one alone. I have Empire, Dwarfs, Orcs & Goblins, High Elves, Wood Elves, Dark Elves, Tomb Kings, Ogre Kingdoms, Skaven and Lizardmen. Empire is probably my favorite, but I love all of my kids differently.
Speaking of kids, my wife and I have Quadruplets who will turn 3 in May, 2018. They keep me busy, but are the joy of my life. Everyone is happy and healthy.
As far as the game goes, I really like the way 8th plays and there are really very few things I think could make it any better. Witch Hunter on a Warhorse. That would have been sweet. I'm not interested in dumbing-down the game at all, to play like 40K. I have several other guys that I have mentored in the game and we all just want to keep playing 8th. Hopefully this will take off and keep 8th alive for us "loyal customers"!

Welcome Don. I'm glad you made it over here. Congrats on the quads. I have 4 kids myself but they didn't all arrive at once. I love your armies and I hope that you share your great stuff on the hobby threads here.

Lol, yeah, my father-in-law "designed" it and had it made! I love it! Weib said that I should make that pic my avatar. I also just had to get a new tag for my van, so I splurged and got a vanity tag with the name QUADPOD on it.

Well, we didn't have quadruplets - but me and my wife just had our first kid! Elizabeth Ryan was born earlier this week. We're all home safely. Happy and Healthy. My Warhammer room became the baby room about 3 months ago. Luckily, I still have my painting area right next to her room, and her midnight wake up calls have led to a 42% increase in me doing my piled up basecoat work.

Congratulations Will! I don't know if you got my text but I really appreciate the box of minis you sent. Thanks man. Of course! You are welcome. That was a trade for the 3 plastic Empire/Unbarded/Pistolier horses. Str8 up trade. I do need 2 more. In that box, 1 of the dudes was the leader of the Dogs of War Pikemen Unit. He didn't have a head, but a cool roman torso with cape. Enjoy the conversion possibilities!

Hello, I just joined your happy band of traveling Minstrals. My name is Chris, I live in the wilds of Mid-Missouri. I play WFB 8th, along with Flames of War, DUST, and Fire and Fury. I love the modeling and painting of miniatures. I painted my first figure in 1973 and havn't stopped sense. My main army is Dwarves, but I also have High Elves, Orcs, Vampire Counts, and Lizardmen. Feel free to inquire about anything I might have left out.
Chris

Hi everyone! I was intrigued by the Painting and Hobby section so here i am. I started playing Fantasy from 7th edition, and the reason was a friend who at the time was collecting Lizardmen. I kind of liked them, cause somehow, they reminded me of Hero Quest. And as such after a couple of days i had my own box of flagellants. My usual opponents at the time were Vampires and Chaos, so until i got a Steam Tank (it was a gift actually) my army was mostly fleeing I too hope, this forum will keep one of the best tabletop games alive Btw English is not my first language, so you'll often struggle to understand what i'm saying. Good luck with that
