Hello Lizards_of_Renown mate, I thought you joined this forum a lot earlier than 22 hours ago, or have I been through a timewarp?

Hello Lizards_of_Renown mate, I thought you joined this forum a lot earlier than 22 hours ago, or have I been through a timewarp? Hey! No, no Birona’s Timewarp I just realised I’d never done an introduction post! i need to start my interactions on this site as this is the real home of “The Knights of Eight”

Hi everybody, Konrad from Berlin, Germany here. Except for some rare departures I use "Darnok" as a nickname since the early 2000s, so we might have seen each other already on the likes of WarSeer, Dakka² or B&C.
I came into contact with GW around 1997/98, when Gorkamorka came out. Yaddayadda, fast forward to 2020, and I have more models than I can reasonably paint in a lifetime already - which doesn't stop me from getting new stuff all the time. As you do.
While I have kind of warmed up to AoS a lot since 2015, I am much more a fan of the Old World. I have pretty complete collection of books for WHF 6th to 8th (concerning the armies I collect), with 8th being my favourite in terms of material available.
Armies I collect: Dwarfs, O&G, Ogres, VC, WoC, Lizardmen, all easily in the 3000s and Dwarfs way beyond that. I am also in the process of re-aquiring an Empire army. I had enough models for a playable force years ago, but sold them - to a friend though, who now gets them painted, so they are not lost! I kept some stuff (mostly character models), and with 'bay and some historical ranges (plus the very nice fantasy range from Fireforge) there is good progress in "getting the band back together".
I am the worst when it comes to staying on target for any one particular project though. So while WHF is high on my list of hobby priorities, that can (sadly) change all too fast. Having said that: me and a friend try to finally get to do the Sigmar's Blood campaign. I will share all progress on that when (and if) we have something to show. Other than those Undead, Nurgle chaotics and some Greenskins are also on the table right now.
So here I am, once more into the breach!

Welcome, Darnok! I remember you from back in the Warseer days. (Weren't you a Mod there?) Super-glad to have you.
As the others said, the painting threads and monthly painting challenges are great ways to plug in and keep motivated with our hobby. It's really nice to see new life being constantly breathed into 8th, etc.!

Welcome!
I have too many armies, and am accumulating models at a rate beyond which I can paint. However, I've found this forum (and especially the monthly challenges) a great way of motivating myself to get armies painted, even though I'm not playing many games these days.
