Hi all,
finally made my way over here. I admit I was a little reluctant to join because the initial vibe I got here was the 8th edition rules are like the bible (or the US constitution), sent from god, never to be questioned. I do like to tinker, to house rule and change rules that bug me. But, the tone around here is so friendly and supportive, I think there is room for all 8th edition connoisseurs.
I've started warhammer back when drunken giants on sleds were in the rules and have stuck with it ever since. In my opinion the rule sets have continued to improve through the editions, and now 8th is the pinnacle and given GW's business decision the end to all things. I can live with that quite comfortably. I don't think I'll ever get tired of playing this edition. When the time comes it looks like I should retire to Rochester as that is the place to be!
I have a rather large Empire Army, also Chaos Warriors and Demons. And a pile of unpainted dwarfs that I will get to any minute now...just don't hold your breath. I like all aspects of the hobby from painting to modelling to gaming.
One thing I am hoping this forum can do is provide a home for all the knowledge and material from the Old World. Other places will slowly wither away or be taken over by fans of the floating isles of Shimmertarn or the dusty plains of Mantica or whatnot, yet EEFL can persist. I think having the FAQs here was a great start. How about white dwarf content of yore like the rules for civil war, or legendary battles or special scenarios? I don't know what the legalities are but it would be great to collect all this content. And there is also fan-made content worth saving. For example, I would love to have a one stop shop for heraldry of the Empire. I have been hunting for Ostland bull head banners for a while now and not quite found the right thing (if only I could freehand!!!). I am sure there is more.
Anyway, looking forward to discuss glorious, glorious 8th edition with you guys. Cheers.

Naitsabes, welcome to the forum! I apologize if we were unclear in the beginning. What we mean is that 8th edition is our core/fav WFB edition and that's what we want to play – we are not throwing out the 8th ed. rulebook or all the awesome army books and supplements. Having said that, Warhammer has always been about having fun and being creative. I've been writing rules and scenarios since I started in the '80s. So we embrace however you choose to play 8th edition. But this is an 8th edition site as apposed to an AOS forum or a 6th edition WFB forum, etc. Glad to have you!

Hello,
Posted my first Ogre list here and got several responses. Nice to know there is still an active community. I play Ogres, Empire, Skaven and High Elves with a friend of mine and we see no reason to stop playing 8th edition.
Best regards, Frozenfood

I love 8th and as long as I have at least one person to play with, it will never die!

Hello All, I'm a big fan of Warhammer , I started with a Khorne army back in Slaves to Darkness , expanded with Chaos Dwarfs with the first armies allies rules , and then built an Orc's and Goblin's army back 2010-2011, I also have a Daemon army , mostly Khorne , since GW split up Chaos earlier. I was an Outrider for GW back in the late 90's and I now run the Warhammer part of our local game club , I provide all the terrain and introduce new players to the game , I also play 40k. I have played some other miniature games like historical American Civil War and Ancients , but WFB is my favorite. I'm really into painting and model converting , I just play for fun I am not a real rules lawyer by any measure, just like rolling dice and moving miniatures around a great looking scenery table. I have played in a few tournaments as well help run some but that was about 10 years ago , now I just help run the club and play casual fun scenario stuff and all. When I first saw 8th Edition I was extremely pleased with the rules I even bought 2 of the collector editions , which I never use in gaming I have the standard book for that. I am actually glad 8th Edition will be the last edition I have wanted GW to stop printing new rules and I think they did us all a great favor by ending at 8th.

Allaric,
Again welcome to the forum, I'm glad you found us!
BTW, we may have met. I was a GW Outrider too, from approx. 1996-2000ish. So I ran a Warhammer table at the Baltimore Games Days back in those days!
Welcome aboard! EEFL!

Hey All. Great effort on making this forum. I've been becoming increasingly frustrated with some of the others I have been reading where flaming and continual negative debate around the weaknesses and occasionally merits of 8th ed KOW, AOS, and GW policy seem to have replaced normal interesting discussion. What a relief to have found yours where everything seems positive and it's all about 8th Fantasy Battle which is what I'm interested in I have to say that I really like 8th rules - I miss a couple of things from older versions but in general it wins by a long way. Anyway I'm UK based, been playing off and on since 4th ed first came out, got orcs n goblins, high elves, (both about 3.5k painted n models enough for 6k), and I recently picked up 6k of averagely painted chaos daemons v cheap off eBay. I'm a very casual gamer, playing for fun in garages and usually enjoying several drinks during /after. Other than Fantasy Battle I play Bloodbowl occasionally and recently picked up Heroquest and Space Crusade for a bit of nostalgic fun. I've got two young daughters so if anyone has any ideas of how to get them involved then please let me know, Anyway, Hello and apologies for the dumb questions I'll no doubt ask later
