So it is time to start my river project. I bought the lovely pieces at www.tabletop-world.com I have begun a little bit and will start with one of the clean straight pieces to see how it works out. As soon as my WoC marauders are done I will begin with the houses. Started with figuring out the size of how wide I want a section and cut out a base in a thin cardboard. If it is not strong enough It will be easy to add stronger board/base later.

Mine is a cheap version though I got plastic moulds from Amera then will be sticking a bridge on a tile (probably an airfix one in a shameless rip off of Harry from warseer's) Are you going to be using water effect? If so which do you have?

Horace yes I will use two-component clear resin to fill it up and then add Vallejo water effects on top to make it alive. Don’t have the products yet but they are on their way and I can photo them when they arrive this week. I have been recommended to use them on a facebook group. They also recommended Vallejo clear water if I just want to make watery effect but it's thin. In this case, I want to fill up to at least so the water wheel is in water.

I am so supremely jealous of you right now. I'm going to closely watch this thread and see how this goes for you. If all goes well, then I'll probably be looking to invest in this River and Bridge as well. Please document this entire process. Even the materials you use. Especially the water effects.

Almost finished measuring up and gluing bases. One curve left that needs new cardboard.

The only thing putting me off the river is having to base it as it due to the edges. I love the bridge though, still one of the best I’ve seen. I’m also looking forward to how you do it

And works great as it is When I first looked to get it, they didn’t make river sections. It’s just it would look so much better on a river. I might have to look at gale force 9 instead.

I think you could build a sloping riverbank easily enough. And I think that actually giving it depth will look so much better. You can cast other amphibious creatures in the water (like a river troll head lurking in the water beneath the bridge, etc.).

I have the woodland scenics stuff. Not been super impressed with it, hopefully with a few tweaks it will work better this time.
Will be good to see how another brand goes

This is the resin I will use for filling up the rivers before applying water effect.

Started cutting some foam.

Normal foam? Anything special about it? Not the card foam (or whatever the proper name is). Sorry if these are obvious questions (expect a lot 😀) and on my phone so difficult to see the photo in closeup resolution.

You need the proper insulation foam. It's quite often blue. I got mine from Fred Aldous in the UK
