I think a couple of these could pass for Chaos Dwarf Daemonsmiths with the main guy arguably a Prophet. The Magmadroth and baby Magmadroth thing here already fit better with Chaos Dwarfs than normal Fantasy dwarfs imo. I can't say I like these female dwarf sculpts though. I always appreciate these updates Sedge. Oooo yes, good thinking. A few selective hair clips and replacement helmets and you are away |

I like that it maintains the previous aesthetic and isn’t too busy. I’m hopeful that if it is turned to a diagonal angle, it would fit on a smaller base.

On interest to note; that Bret BSB has clearly been designed to very firmly fit entirely over his own base, bar the sword. A nod to models designed around actually ranking up?

The new Bretonnian lord is great and GW really know how to paint a white pegasus! That thing is practically glowing.
The interchangeable bits working with old kits is very good. Foot Knight helms etc could really spruce up the old Pegasus rider kits. That kit looks great and I think could build a better hero than the actual foot hero.
The Stormcast dragon reminds me of the old Warhammer dragons in a good way. That kit is basically a Chaos or Vampire Lord on Dragon with all the skulls.
The new 'Orion' is no Orion.... I think both old versions with Spears and Horns are better than this considerably and I prefer the Wardroth beetle with Alarielle to this beetle. A miss for me.
Overall some nice goodies shown. 👍

I'm glad to see them release the entire Bret range and give us an approximate release date. We needed that much after 4 years of drops in the bucket.
Overall, I am pleased with the Bret range. I think the Peg character is lovely. (Did Brets always have a BSB on Peg option? I wonder how viable that'll be in actual play?). I also wonder about the scale of that Peg in relation to the unit Pegs? Is it close, or will it look completely ridiculous?
The Foot Knights look lovely. The pole axes look a tad big to me, but I suppose it depends on if they'll count as halberds or great weapons. Nice to have the options though.
The damsel on foot makes me a little leery. Looks like it could topple over at any moment.
I'm afraid of the cost of the FW Trebuchet. I bet just one will be over $100.

So in old editions, you could mount him on whatever beast/monster is available to the army. That certainly included a pegasus. The new pegasus is a "royal pegasus" for heroes and lords. So it should be larger than the plain jane pegasi in the pegasus knights unit. I'm disappointed with the addition of the Bretonnia foot knights. I think different factions should explicitly not have access to certain unit options. For Bretonnia that meant no heavy/elite infantry. |
