mottdon those look nice but can you add a ”before” picture to the post Well, I don't actually have too many "before" pics! Here's an old army shot and a few of the bolt thrower, but I mostly added the reds for the army tie-in and also freshened up the metallics and re-washed them. Some, like the second, smaller cannon weren't painted at all and only about half of the crew were painted. None based.

I think I might go ahead and make a big push to completely finish this army off! I'm not too far from that goal at this point. It'd be nice to have at least one out of my 10 armies completely done!
This army has also changed up a lot since this old pic. I need to get a current army shot. I'll try to get one soon.

I don't think I'll get onto doing anything with this model this month, but this is how the Dark Elf Dreadlord looks at present: The cloak and robes are done, plus the silver metal. Next step, I think, is picking out various bits in gold. After that it should just be some leather, the shield, the head, and then the gem hanging from the cloak. He's a kitbash - torso from the Cold One Chariot rider, sword and shield from the Black Dragon kit, head is the champion from the High Elf Shadow Warriors kit (my favourite elf head), and the cloak is from the High Elf Prince/Noble kit. Geez, I love this guy as he is! I don't think that you really need to do much more to him! Really captures the "Dark Lord" look! I may be a bit partial since my Dark Elves actually have dark skin, but dang! He really looks kinda other-worldy as he is! So cold and calculating. Gold might change that though. I'll definitely warm him up. Still, great work so far! Full agree, he looks sweet

I’m late to the party this month. Working like a beatch due to year end so may not be able to complete much (if anything). I have already built and primed a load of 40k models (5 sniper scouts, 5 hammer terminators and a slightly converted Captain and command squad) but on the fantasy front I’ll continue to slowly chip away at: Some waywatchers, A waystalker, The damn stag mounted lord (only on the painting tray for around 7 months...), The Bret KotR and Probably build a further 10 ironbreakers I picked up.

pretty sweet, grandmasterwang. What now though? There are 18 more days in the month.
I have been roped into finishing up the Silver Tower set for my son. He signed up to do a school project where he introduces a few kids to this type of board games and yours truly gets to do the menial labor. so...no proper fantasy models from me for a little bit.

A school project involving playing your favorite game?!? Sign me up! This must be the coolest school just short of Xavier's School for Gifted Children!

'Proper' or not I consider the Silver Tower to consist of amazing fantasy models so that should be a treat. I might even paint something else completely this month but my guess is that I'm going to need the headstart of this month to get my 1 miniature in next month in for the end of that months challenge. Possibly a Lord of Change or Magmadroth for next month...or maybe even the Roc! Also I have a fair bit of assembly to do so will find something to potter away with.

I'm with grandmasterwang on this - the models might be AoS era, but they fit in just fine with 8th era fantasy (and I've painted my set to do so). Plus, you don't have to use the heroes from the box - if you have the hero cards, it's a great excuse to pick a few of the 8th edition plastic characters and get them painted instead (or even proxy something else).

I know! what ever happened to school being a bad terrible place one couldn't wait to get out of. As far as Silver Tower and 'properness' go. I think Silver Tower is a fine game. Had lots of fun with my son. Good mechanics, nice models that fit into a crazy magical maze. For me these models do not fit into the world that was with a few exceptions. They generally have fancy armor, intricate weapons are encrusted in jewelry. Doesn't fit with drunk braying around a herdstone deep in the forest or a hard-scrabbled existence in the cold north. Maybe as a special unit in a special scenario. Takes a lot of 'magic did it'. but, that is just like...my opinion, man. I got five more models to do by next Friday (that will complete the set which I started at x-mas). Clock is ticking!

I see what you are saying regarding the Tzaangor fitting in with the dirty Beastmen. I plan on incorporating them as a kind of subfaction who effectively teleported in via Tzeentch/ 'magic did it' and formed a temporary alliance with the general brayherds to achieve a specific objective. They certainly look different and blingier.

The Trinity has called me....I could no longer refuse their summons.... Ties into that whole rock golem army thing I'm working on. With the druids and base done...the hard work now begins. Hopefully to be completed in my May pledge.

Well, I managed to get 1 more Ogre Hunter painted. I still need to finish his base, but the painting is finished. I started work on my second Hunter, but he still needs work.
