So I'm going to put this "feeler" out there to see if there is enough interest in doing a "Secret Santa" kind of model swap.
I volunteer to head this up, collect information (names, addresses,....credit card #'s ) and keep track of who's paired with who.
Basically, if we have 10 people wanting to send someone a secret "happy" model, then great, we'll have enough to so that everyone has a match. If we have an odd number, I'll volunteer to go twice. This is also an honor based system, so if you think you might not do it, please refrain from joining, because an event like this really depends on everyone's participation. Since we are almost half way through this year, the pressure is on. (For some of us more than others. )
Once we show that we have enough willing participants, I'll leave a sign up time open to anyone wanting to join for the next two weeks. That should give anyone willing to participate enough time to check back into the forum and sign up. Otherwise, their forum activity might not be frequent enough to be truly reliable for such an event.
I'll make the deadline for the event December 1st, 2018, though your "Happy!" may be sent to your target at any time. The goal is for your recipient to receive their package before Christmas.
In that time, you should have researched your recipient, planned your "happy", purchased (or not) it, painted it up and delivered it to them. This is not restricted to 8th edition models, etc. either. If someone here is REALLY into 40K, AoS, KoW, other acronymed games, that will work too. Just be sure to thoroughly research that person's interests and likes and do whatever you think that they'll like. That being said, the more information you can provide on yourself the better. Take pictures of your work (good OR bad), write down your preferences, games you love...let us get to know you! The more information, the better your "Happy!" will be! I'll collect the addresses of all participating (PM me your mailing information) and I can send it to the person who drew your name. If you have trouble finding anything on your target, let me know and I'll see if I can help, ultimately ending with me contacting that individual for info.
For those who fail to meet your deadline or simply can't complete it, let me know so that I can make other arrangements or switch partners. Failure to send a "Happy!" will result in being banned from the next exchange and much internet SHAME! I will certainly do my part in posting frequent reminders to everyone as to their participation and deadlines, so that nobody will have an excuse that they "didn't remember".
So let me know what you guys think! Are y'all up for this???
