larabic does a great job getting deals on Reddit. I use EBay, and am just fussy and buy when it’s priced reasonably or just suck it up if I need it. I plan armies years in advance though, so I can afford typically to wait until I see a good deal. Oh, I do that too (on eBay) but over the last three years, prices have just gone on this elevating spike and aren't coming down. They just continue to rise. At this rate, by the time I have my 10, 10K+ armies all painted up, I'll have a small fortune in Ebay bucks! Lol!

I know a lot of people talk about finding groups on Facebook, but I just have a hard time finding anything that I want on the page or two that I've found. Most say stuff like, "contact me to discuss". I'm sorry, but that just leaves me feeling like I'm about to be taken for a ride. I don't like to barter, but rather when someone is upfront with me and just trying to get rid of their stuff. The Barter Bucket on facebook is pretty alright. Don't get hung up on the name. Their iron rule is that the seller has to name a price when posting. so you don't waste time contacting people with inflated ideas about what their stuff is worth.
I agree though that ebay prices aren't kind. I thought the one good thing about the death of WFB would be good prices on the shitloads of now 'outdated' plastic models and that really hasn't happened.
There is a quarterly flea market at a gaming store nearby. I had some luck there with people who can't be bothered to put stuff on ebay. It is pretty hit-and-miss.

Managed to pick up an old High Elf Battalion box on Ebay with everything still on the sprue, and also managed to win an auction for Teclis, but lost his twin. Unfortunately Teclis is in Finecast and his staff is horribly bent. Anyone know how to fix that? @imarillion helped me with guidance. I used boiling water, a metal net(pasta thing) and something to pick up with(hot dog picker). Be very careful and fast as at some point the resin becomes liquid and then you need to be fast to pick it up and then you have about 5s to make it straight and then it colds down.

Also, depending on your location, you can get some really good deals off of Craigslist. Most of my Empire stuff was obtained either there or by trading parts from larger cheap lots that had tons of stuff but only a few things I actually wanted to keep.
Also, the cold water thing from heating and straightening resin isn't just to set it quicker, it's to shock the resin and reset the flex "memory" to the fixed position.

Once I sorted through that bag of bits I got more crossbows, spearman, and hero units (about 2 more wizards though not gw they are the same scale and look good).
But yes I have a lot of painting ahead, planning to strip everything but the steam tanks. The outriders were called “pro painted” but they very much are not which is what I expected as all that cost about $200.

If the paint isn't layered on too thickly I sometimes just paint over plastic. I find it strips less well than metal. If someone's glooped it on it can't be helped though

I’ve just picked up the original Gotrek and Felix to replace the models I mislaid an age ago.

They just finished their new kickstarter with Lizzie’s. And the sculpts look awesome. Especially the salamanders and kroxigors. If comparing to GW.
