Lol! Lizardmen can certainly start to feel like Skaven in regards to painting when you want to run a Skink Cloud!

The "Quick to Fire" rule for javelins is what sells it for me. It's really nice to always have that option, instead of just fleeing every time they're charged (Or just standing there and taking the inevitable loss). At least you might take a few with you, if toting javelins. While they may not get Parry Saves due to the Javelin having special rules, at least they get +1 armor over the Blowpipe option, as well. I thought javelins were their ranged weapon, then they fight HW+S so they'd get parries. Got to go back and look at the book again, been too long...

You may be correct. I'll have to investigate it further.

Javelin only have shooting profile in BRB And I see no difference in AB except poison. And they have HaS on profile too:

The term "javelin" (=throwing spear) should already be a giveaway. One must also distinguish between a Skink Cohort and Skink skirmishers. The first are equipped with Lustrian javelin, HW & shield, with no blowpipe option; the latter with HW & blowpipe (which can be exchanged for Lustrianjavelins), but have no shield option.

Skirmishers can have shields.

Correct. I overlooked that the replacement with javelins includes shields - when strutsagget even included a picture of the rule. Note to self: wear your reading glasses, when using the PC.

I've only got a few skinks in my army and I'm shocked at how much better the javelins do over the blow pipes, sure I like firing 20 shots but then I get charged and that's it. I may as well flee (and get run down) as I can't fire. Javelins still get to fire from what ever range.
Regarding fleeing, I usually only try when I'm far enough away my opponent needs a 9 or greater.

My friend plays symmetrical lizards.
That is he deploys half his army on the left, the other on the right.
You never know where his slann is going to go as he has more drops than me, always - lol.
So you have to fight your way though half army before you even get to his important bitz.
Its rare that the slann dies. It once saved 12/15 wounds in 1 round of Combat. He rolled 15 dice 1 at a time, haha! Epic moment.

Time and time again, until I made him use spare dice that I brought. He stopped playing at our club after that....)

It's fun to do for dramatic effect sometimes, but yeah... use different dice.
